there's no 'sort of caught' a person in a lie. either you got caught or you didnt. jst be honest and come clean with your friends. if it's that stupid that you are willing to lose your friendship, then you or they are not true friends.

It's better if you talk to them and confess rather than them confronting you about it. At least if you go first then you can always say that you meant to tell them at some point, you just couldn't find a good opportunity. It's also a way for you to save face which may be one of the things that keeps you from telling them.
Then explain to them why you did it in the first place. And what kept you from not confessing.
Their reaction will depend on how big a lie it was and how it affects your relationship. But they are really your friends, then they will understand your motives and forgive you in the end.

learning your lesson isn't enough after you're about 5 years old. you need to face the consequences...just be glad its not worse than some damage to your pride

wat did u lie bout? if theyre ur frens then they should forgive u, they may be mad at u at first, but tell them the truth... if they really are ur friends then they will forgive u.
