Really, you should wash all new clothes before anyone wears them. Manufacturers will sometimes put chemicals on new clothing in order to keep it looking fresh while on the racks. I was all new clothing that comes to my family, just to be on the safe side.

Good luck.

Yes. As manufacturers sometimes put chemicals on the clothes it is a good idea to wash them before use to make sure they are thoroughly clean. Also some are a bit stiff and washing softens them right up. I always wash my babies clothes before use with a good detergent and fabric softener. It makes them smell gorgeous and feel cuddly!

Yes, because most clothing companies put chemicals in the clothes to keep them looking fresh on the shelves. This could really irritate the baby's skin.

I've washed everything I bought for the baby - sheets, blankets, clothes, etc. I didn't use Dreft, though - just pick up any dye- and perfume-free detergent. I use it on our clothes too, so that her skin won't be irritated by being held against our clothes.

It is a good idea seeing as how a lot of people touch the clothes. You never know what people have these days. Besides that they fit better once you wash them.

I think it would be a good idea to wash them first.Lots of baby clothes come with rough seams and tags in them. They could use a good wash with lots of fabric softener.Congrats also on your new angel.

Yes! For one thing, it makes them softer and will hopefully kill any germs floating around on them.

Also, a friend of mine worked for a clothing company, and told me that often they use formaldehyde as a preservative on clothing. That is why they always tell you to wash your new clothes before you wear them. Yuck!!!

I have a 4month old and I wash all of her new clothes in "Dreft" laundry soap. I'd rather be safe than sorry... you never know who has touched those clothes before you. Just thinking about it gives me the ibby jibbys.... :)

Many new moms believe that prewashing the new baby's clothing will safeguard them in case they might be allergic to some of the dyes used. Really it is up to the individual.

Yes, think of all the people who touched them on the rack, then think of where their hands might have been! Wash in fragrance/dye free laundry soap!
