Sure why not, as long as he is interested in it. Parents should always encourage their children for something creative and positive.

let the boy have the final say, of course. however, fathers with the help of other fathers of peer boys can help show the boys that classical dance is cool and that they will give theirselves a pat on the back should they once need to use that skill. boys usually tend yo listen to their dads more. the mothers may introduce the boys to young girls who think classical dancing is cool in order to motivate the boys... that may help. in any case, parents should point out that the boys will appreciate skills in classical dancing later in life and that now is a good time to prepare for it.

It depends on what you want the rest of his life to be like:
A) He does dance. He is considered gay. He isn't strong enough to ignore the others. He is emotionally depressed.
B) He does dance. He doesn't give what the others think. His confidence is built. If he is all that dedicated, he could land a role in a musical.
C) He doesn't do dance. He has his other habits. You take dance away from his "___'s a Freak" list,
Well those are the possibilities!!

Mothers' encouragement for dance would be something akin to making them take piano lessons. I do wish I'd had some male encouragement to learn dance when I was young, though, just as I fit the stereotype of wishing I'd kept up piano.

Dance is great! Ballet was actually invented by men! Just beware that sometimes ballerina boys get called sissies by their friends... but that shouldn't matter because dance makes you very strong and makes you think more logically in other areas of life.

Let it be the child's decision. Try tap, jazz or Hip-hop first. And then see where their passion is.

my mom motivated me to do classical ballet. she said that i had the masculinity to be in touch with my feminine side (yey, mom!). she also supports me by providing me things i need for ballet... hai... i love my mom.
well. my dad, on the other hand, is OH-SO negative about me doing ballet. he said that its not OH-SO heterosexual. hai... hate him.

ummmmmm if he shows interest, but if not, don't make him, it will only lead to lots of teasing later in life.

As long as he's interested, absolutely. I wouldn't force my kid to do it, but if he liked it anyway...
