Contact the YMCA. In some states they are hooked in with the social service agencies and they can probably place you in a safe place and help you get back on your feet. Also the Goodwill agencies do that.

First, take that family member to Small Claims court to get your money back. If the person doesn't come, you may automatically win. Then, share this with your creditors so that they'll know that you were not the problem.

Also, in addition to doing credit checks some landlords are doing a combination credit and criminal background check.

There are places that dont do credit checks and maybe for a while you can find one of them, also, it may help if you explain part of your situation if a place does reject you. So, don't give up, if it is that bad just leave and stay at a womans shelter until you can find something,

Are referring to HDB?

First thing first. Get a copy of your Credit Bureau report from SingPost, Credit Bureau (Singapore) Pte Ltd or online using SingPass ID. Normally, you pay SGD5.00.

Then, seek your MP's help at Meet-The-People session or any other channels that you are aware of. I believe HDB can make certain exception with your MP's intervention on certain grounds.

Lastly, see if you can straighten your credibility by using legal channel. I believe your MP can also assist you in this scope.

If it's bad enough, contact a women's shelter in your area.

Good luck.
