I don't like it myself because it is truly representative, it will pass laws which the majority of the people want. This is unfortunate since the majority of people in the world or a given country are wicked. Secondly representative government allows women to vote as well and since there is more women than men in the world, it is a bad idea because men are not to be ruled by women but the other way around. Instead, I think we should be ruled by the Sages - the men who know the holy commandments and will rule with wisdom, truth, and justice. What do you all think?

Means nothing to me I don't vote; never was into that political jargon anyways; leave it to the men, I've got me dishes to do; in other words there are more important things.

I hear this all the time. I think it's just plain wrong. Perhaps this is just the Republican Party trying to discredit the Democratic Party. The word 'republic' and the word 'democracy' mean just about the same thing. The 'public' in 'republic' is Latin for The People. The 'demo' in 'democracy' is from 'demos', Greek for The People. BOTH mean that the people rule, the people are sovereign, rather than a king, a nobility, a dictator, an oligarchy, a plutocracy or autocracy. A -republic- that is not -democratic- is not a republic at all. And vice versa. Democracy can be a 'pure' democracy or a 'representative' democracy. The latter has usually been found most workable on a national level, though we also have a strong tradition, mostly in the Northeast, of 'town meetings' where the whole population of a town can participate in decisions. The Constitution is not our democracy/republic any more than a blueprint of a 747 can carry hundreds of people across a continent. The Constitution is only the blueprint, the 'ground rules'. Without it, you couldn't have a democracy, just as without blueprints you couldn't have an airplane, but lets not confuse the concept with the thing itself. (Actually, you didn't. But people do.)

What you state is a republic is not really a republic but a democracy. I agree democracy is a bad concept because in a democracy all aspects of government are subject purely to the whim of the majority without regard for anything else.

Ideally, that government is best which governs least.

Realistically, the best form of government is a constitutional republic which provides for the people to be represented on a reasonable scale, while at the same time providing a framework of the basic structure of government and civil liberties that are not to be subjected to the tyranny of the majority.

Your concept of a benevolent dictatorship could work OK in theory, but only if the rulers were perfect in all aspects. As humans, they will inevitably bring their own flaws to the table and be further corrupted by absolute power.

Assessing men and women as they are, nobody is qualified to rule anyone else, or to be ruled by others.

What is wrong with laws people want?... it is OUR country...we have evry right to say what goes into it. Oh and I do not CARE what YOU think men are not controlled by women and women are most certainly not controlled by men... this is why both men and women were equipped with brains so that they could control their own selves. Guess what we live in the 21st century... men and women are EQUAL!!!!!!!!Women are the excecutives and presidents of companies and also hold high positions in government. I know you hate that but it is just the way things are. You MUST learn that women are STRONG, INDEPENDENT and capable of making desicions (including voting). And we are adults. Oh hahahaha..... sages .....ahahaha... keep dreaming. Oh and you're the wicked one.. no one else. I think you should move to Iran you would like it there.

I love how you are so into politics!
I know I shouldn't be answering this question because I'm just a lowly female who knows nothing about politics (that's the man's job of course) but I couldn't help but compliment you because you're just so smart master!
And you're right about women being able to vote, we don't know enough to make important decisions like that. We need to focus more on taking care of the house and our family. Why waste our time on politics when there's a house to clean and our lovely superior men to feed?
XOXO

Why can't we just have a governing body that actually has the good of the PEOPLE in mind when they pass laws, etc. instead of pursuing their own corrupt, abusive, and illegal agendas?

Please tell me you're joking?
Women aren't meant to be ruled by men, and men aren't to be ruled by women. We were meant to be EQUAL.
