Honestly, if you have the internet I wouldn't spend your money on a book. You can find limitless numbers of articles and information on everything you need to know on the web.

Also, there is a great site to go to that really helped me when I was pregnant and is still helping me now with my 10 month old boy. It's called www.babyfit.com. It's great because they have message forums and you can ask anything (even the too much info stuff) and everything. They have so many different groups and they even have a forum for mother's with twins! I love the Mommy Month Forums because my baby is a June 2006 baby. So everyone that is in the June 2006 forum is all going through a lot of the same things at the same time. Personally, I think other moms will give you a whole lot more information than a book. It's fun too because you can look at the concerns that other moms have and maybe help them.

Anyway, I have been a member since I was pregnant and I even went on there for some advice today. They also have cool articles and a whole fitness and diet program. You can also have your own babypage and post your pictures and connect with friends. It's like a myspace for moms. IT'S GREAT! I hope this helps and good luck and CONGRATS!!!

As she is a newborn, she will not care what you get. Newborns can apparently ony focus about 30 cm or about 1 foot at birth... So maybe this is for a "future" thing for her. "Little Golden Books" are a lovely thing, so maybe buy a few for her now and add to them on her birthday and Christmas and other gift giving times. Find picture books or with lots of pictures as that's what will interest her first. So for example remember ones you loved as a child, the one about the little worm or Where the Wild Things Are or there is an author / artist called Graeme Base - Animalia for example is great on several levels. Firstly there are 26 pages, 26 sentences / paragraphs using each letter of the alphabet and quite a lot (alliteration), and each page has pictures of things from that letter (so L has lions and letters and llamas etc) And there is a little boy in a Where is Wally type search... I was given a book as a child called "I like this poem" which is a collection of poems as suggested by children and teens (so around 5 or 6 to 15 or 16) and has ones like The Owl and the Pussycat...

There are some good books like "The Everything Baby's First Year Book", but to tell you the truth, the best thing to do is to join a new mom's group and go, while you are pregnant, and learn from the other new moms.

Also, when my baby started daycare, I learned so much for the daycare providers!!!! Some of them have worked there for 20 years, so they know babies incredibly well. They know all the possible tricks of the trade on how to get a baby to eat, sleep, change diapers with one hand tied behind their back, etc!

Also, a lactation consultant or a post-partum doula can help you with newborn issues. I had a lactation consultant come after the baby was born, and she was awesome! She helped me learn how to swaddle the baby, how to hold her to breastfeed, and how to burp her, etc.

Personally, I feel like the lessons I've learned from people have been way more informative than any book!

WHAT TO EXPECT THE FIRST YEAR is an excellent book. Almost everything is covered, including tips on twins. You will learn as you go but sometimes you will have questions and the book is very easy to use.

I love The Baby Book by Dr. Sears. I have also gotten a lot of good advice and information from my book The Children's Hospital Guide to Your Child's Health and Development by Children's Hospital Boston. Congratulations and good luck!

The "What to Expect ..." series is really great. If not for every page, it is a great resource book you can flip through for specific topics as you raise your twins.
