collecting like terms

64x + 16x + 1 = 0

80x + 1 = 0

Transpose 1

80x + 1 - 1 = 0 - 1

80x = - 1

Divide 80 on both sides of the equation

80x / 80 = - 1 / 80

x = - 1/80

64x+16x+1=0 first -1 from both sides

64x+16x = -1 add 64x+16x

80x= -1 divide both sides by 80

x= -1/80

As written
64x+16x+1=0
80x+1=0
80x=-1
x=-1/80

But I'll bet you meant
64x^2+16x+1=0
(8x+1)^2=0
8x+1=0
8x=-1
x=-1/8

64x + 16x + 1 = 0
80x + 1 = 0
80x = -1
x = -1/80

you meant:
64x^2 + 16x + 1 = 0
(8x + 1) (8x + 1)= 0
(8x + 1)^2 = 0
8x + 1 = 0
8x = -1
x = -1/8

Do you mean 64x^2? If so...

64 x^2 + 16 x + 1 = 0
64 x^2 + 8x + 8x + 1 = 0
(64x^2 + 8x) + (8x + 1) = 0
8x(8x + 1) + 1(8x + 1) = 0
(8x + 1)^2 = 0
8x + 1 = 0
8x = -1
x = -1/8

If not....

80x + 1 = 0
80x = -1
x = -1/80

64x+16x+1 = 0
80x + 1 = 0
80x = -1
x = -1/80

But did you mean 64x^2 + 16x + 1?

Factor it
(8x + 1)(8x+1) = 0
8x+1 = 0
x = -1/8

64x + 16x + 1= 0
80x + 1 =0
80x = -1
x= -1/80
did you mean 64x^2 + 16x + 1= 0
64x^2 + 8x +8x +1 = 0
(64x^2 +8x)(8x + 1)
8x(8x +1) 1(8x + 1)
(8x + 1)(8x + 1)
8x + 1 = 0
8x = -1
x = -1/8

add the common multiples.
64x+16x =80x
Get x to one side of the equation by minusing 1 from both sides
80x+1=0 ------>80x= -1
-1=-1
Get x by itself by dividing 80 from both sides
80x/80= -1/80

x= -1/80

your goal is to get x by itself on one side of the equals sign
first subtract 1 from each side of the equation

64x + 16x = -1

then combine x's (add 64x and 16x)

80x = -1

then divide by 80 on both sides of the equation to get x by itself

x = -1/80 (or as a decimal) x = -0.0125
