Go up to 3 people (of different ages) who don't know you very well- and ask them their "honest opinion" about your singing voice (sing something popular that most people- including yourself- like). Do this THREE times (with 3 sets of people); and if at least 2 out of 3 of each one of those sets of people say you have a good voice- your next stop may be American Idol ! :) Good luck!

Well if you sing for all of your friends and they tell you that you can't sing then I would take that as a pretty good sign that you can't sing...trust me I know cause I thought I could sing but apparently I can't

Sing a capella with one finger holding your left ear closed and if you sound good to yourself you are. Or you could just record your voice but my ways free

I did this to my sister once, it works.
Record youself singing, then listen to it. You'll be able to here yourself the way others here you.
I wish some of the people that try out on those singing shows (Idol) would do it before they make fools of themselves.
