When I got pregnant with my son, I tested when I was 4 days late and it came up positive. So, 11 days is not too early, but it can take longer to show up. HPT's are very sensitive, too much urine or not enough urine on the stick can give you the wrong answer. Make sure that you're testing first thing in the morning (first urination after you wake up) to give you the most accurate answer. I would give it another week or so and try again and if it's still negative and you think you're pregnant, go see your doctor. They will be able to do a blood test that is more accurate than a HPT in determining pregnancy!

The maximum time, or the minimum time?
Oh, you mean the maximum time from the first day your period should have come? That is a good question. For some people I guess it takes longer for the hormones to be detected.
You can test as early as the first day that your period normally would have come. If you are still getting a negative result a week and 4 days after your period should have come, it's probably a negative. I wouldn't wait another 2 weeks, though, if I thought I might be pregnant. I would test every day or every other day.
There are lots of reasons why you can miss a period. No big deal. You can miss a period due to stress or an illness, or even a sunburn!

Yes, it is possible to have a 'false positive' however it is very rare. Usually a false positive is caused by: 1.) Evaporation Lines As the pee moves up the test it smudges and as it dries leaves a line that looks like a positive. 2.) Medication If you're on medication that contains hCG then you might get a false positive. 3.) Reading the test after the time limit Most tests state that the results should not be read after 10 - 15 minutes, doing so might give you a false positive.

Look at the box. Different kinds are for different times. Some will even tell you before a missed period - but those are more expensive. The timing factor is absed on days since ovulation - which happens before your period. Here is a website and some information that may help:
http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/pregnancy-tests/early-pregnancy-tests.htm
" If a woman is pregnant, the amount of hCG in her system should be around 25 mIU at 10 dpo (days past ovulation), 50 mIU at 12 dpo, 100 mIU at around two weeks dpo. Blood tests can determine pregnancy as low as between 5 to 10 mIU/hCG, though with levels of 5 mIU, a conclusive determination cannot be made without risking a "false positive" (as low levels hCG can be present in the body without pregnancy).
Drugstore pregnancy tests generally detect pregnancy at 50 mIU - 100 mIU hCG, though you can find early-detection pregnancy tests on the Internet with sensitivity levels as low as 20 mIU."

There are many things that can cause you to be late if you the HCG in your urine is highest in the morning but most home pregnancy tests are sensitive enought to detect it at lower levels if you still are having a negative test when you are two weeks late and you period has still not came have a blood HCG done at your doctors office it can detect pregnancy before your period is missed

Atleast 2-3 weeks. You're only trying to wait long enough for the H.C.G in your urine to show up.Once the egg implants itself it does'nt take long.Maybe about a week after.
