u'd have to be willing to get a very old bike...at least 10 years old if u are only willing to top at 1500. brand new, a ninja250 will set ya back roughly 3 grand. i see more girls on the back of cruisers than crotch rockets up here tho...by a very wide margin.

Sounds like you're on a good track to get a first bike. The 500s and 250s are all good beginner choices, but a 500 or a liquid cooled 250 sportbike can keep up with highway traffic with no trouble (air cooled 250s will be just about maxed out, however). The Ninja 250 is going to be the easiest to find in good shape in your price range, but if you come across a Ninja 500, VTR250, or GS500 in your price range, that will be worth considering. There's also the Yamaha Seca II, which although it's a 600 is no more powerful than a 500 and sometimes pops up in your price range.

Your best bet may be either an early to mid 1990s Suzuki Katana 600. You can find one in the price range and they are good reliable sport bikes. They aren't half bad looking either. Suzuki also makes a GS500. The new ones (GS500F) look like baby GSXR's but the older ones in your price range are cool too (GS500E). More like a naked bike. Another way to go would be a Kawasaki Ninja 250R or 500R. You should be able to find a 2000 250R for around $1500 - $1600. Also very reliable. Performance better than a compact car. You may be able to find a mid 1990s 500R in your price range and it will be a little bigger with a little more power. Unfortunately not too many choices in that displacement in the USA.

The newer Suzuki GS500s are pretty sporty, and a great starter bike. But you'll have to settle for an older one in that price range - less sporty looking.

Average Used Costs:
Low $1,475 Medium $2,310 High $4,095

The older Ninja's are also pretty good - go for the 500 model for two up.

Average Used Costs:
Low $1,500 Medium $2,483 High $3,815

Either should score pretty well with ladies that like sport bikes. Hone your riding skills for a few months before trying to ride two up!

If your a beginner, yes those bikes would be good for you. But after you got done learning how to ride you would start getting bored from the lack of power.
The first step to learning to ride that most people don't teach is getting a feel for the clutch. This is done but pulling the clutch in, putting the bike in gear, and without giving it any gas slowly release the clutch till the bike gets moving without using any gas, and without stalling ,or making the bike buck too much, and ending with the clutch completely out. Pull the clutch in and repeat this step over and over till you can do it everytime smoothly. Once you've mastered that, then start adding the throttle while easing the clutch out till you get really smooth doing that too in 1st gear. After that changing the gears will be no problem and down shifting won't either. Just make sure you ease the clutch out after every shift change. You won't have to ease it out as slowly once moving as you did in 1st gear.
I'd learn on a friends bike with this method and then save up money to get a 600 or higher cc bike. A 250 will get boring once you've learned how to ride within the 1st week.

co sign so sin and bmore chick in case you go with some examples, i'm able to assert Nas, Talib, Lupe, Mos Def, Ghostface Killah, Wu Tang... they're all in contact approximately originality. and there is yet another element: hip hop ain't promoting that very comparable to lower back in '03.. internet took over the whole sells spot so it may effect approximately an artist's prominence. by the tip of the day, i desire that purely the genuine artists stay alive.

uhhh lmao. u cant get a chick magnet for 500-1500. lol. 1500 will get you a crappy ninja250. expext to have at least 4500 to get into something decent, and 6000 to get something people will respect you for.
