I fell asleep during the movie, but I do hope to see it fully awake sometimes.
I don't think that your statement is an absolute, but a thing that sometimes is true.
Often we see things only in our own perspective.
For instance, somewhere I heard that in the past in South America the mountain natives would often get glimpses of of the valley people- the mt people perspective of the valley people was that they were tiny little people. They didn't yet grasp that the further away a person gets the smaller they appear. Can you imagine the concepts mankind has had to learn and or understand.
According to what you are saying....a UFO could land in the middle of New York City and no one will see it......well unless the movies we have seen would prepare humans to see it.
I don't think I agree fully with what you say because I have seen things that I didn't know what they were and I saw them and my brain processes it. My brain might process it differently than someone else might.
Thus, if we brought in people from a tribe that had never seen the outside world they would see what we see, but they would have no concept of what they are seining. This would be an interesting sociology study.

that doesn't make much sense. People claim to see space aliens and space ships. that's just as weird as Indians seeing ships.
I'd think that if it's something so outrageously different than we'd be more drawn to notice it.
what I do know is that our mind always associates the unknown with something that we do know. for instance, new people you meet are bound to look like someone else you know. It's your minds way of processing new information.
So theres a lot out there that we really don't know much about at all, we just assume more about it than we probably should.

I saw that movie/documentary! Extraordinary! But I imagined it as... the Indians had NEVER seen ships in the sea, so perhaps their view.... FROM A DISTANCE... appeared as... whales? low clouds? Since they had never seen ships... would they even know what was approaching? But when they were CLOSE enough to be seen as floating objects, yeah, sure, they still didn't understand it but I'm sure they didn't walk around ignoring the ships. However, they may have walked around for hours as those small bumps on the horizon slowly floated closer and closer.
And besides... UFO's are STILL referred to by that acronym. They are UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS. We see them, we just don't really know what they are. So the Indians saw UNIDENTIFIED "FLOATING" OBJECTS. Except... people came out and tried to communicate.

I doubt this conclusion.
When we are born with have never witnessed anything. A baby, however, can and does see things that they have not seen before. And the react to those things that they have not seen before.
The blind can also react to things that they do not see. Hearing a car, for example.

Yes, it is called infrared or ultraviolet light. There are many things that we can't see but can know about through scientific experiment. And there are some things that we can observe but do not fully understand, like the human brain.

Sure we can. Anyone can see Yellowstone, but few can know it. The same can be said about all natural phenomenon. That is why we have specialists.

So, when we perceive something for the first time, we are unable to visualize it? That's absurd!
