I feel that this is making the England players too complacent. If they were not on contracts they would have to work harder at getting into and staying in the team. No one should feel that his selection is garunteed. Also if they were not on a contract, they would have to go back to their counties and get actual competitive practice. Look at the other Test playing teams, when they are not on test duties, most of them is in England playing County cricket, (while our contract players are brushing up on their golf). It seems to me that the less cricket the national team plays the more injuries they suffer

I think the england players need to play more for their counties and prove they are good enough to play for the national team,rather then the selectors picking them to justify the X amount of pounds they are paying them at the time.If they concentrated on events on the field rather than trying to emulate HelenMccarther(well an overweight drunken one anyway)They might see some sucess in these major tournaments.
