1. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day
2. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and fiber so you are regular. A constipated person has dull skin.
3. Take vitamins especially Vitamin C, E, and zinc.
4. Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night.
5. Get plenty of fresh air and exercise. Work up a sweat which helps flush the pores.
6. I use a alpha hydroxy solution every day. I buy it at Walgreens for five dollars and massage a finger full into my face every morning along with a sunscreen before makeup. It exfoliates and keeps my skin smooth and radiant with few breakouts and makeup goes on better.
7. Do not smoke or drink as these damage the skin and leach Vitamin C out of the body and cause wrinkles.
8. Protect your skin from the effects of the sun. When you get a tan or burn you are damaging the skin and you will have more dead cells on your skin which contributes to breakouts and dull looking skin as well as weathered, wrinkled skin and age spots. I wear a hat everywhere I go, it is my signature look.
9. I have a facial or a glycolic peel every 3 months at a spa or facialist. Ask around for a recommendation because some spas are much better than others.

I have to put in effort to have a good complexion. Sometimes I get compliments & sometimes, I have break outs.

These are the products I use to wash my face:
1) Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads I like the textured side for extra exfoliation & the cleanser is just right for my sensitive combination skin.

2) Eucerin liquid face wash for sensitive skin.

3) Murad AHA/BHA cleanser - the jojoba beads feel good.

4) Avon Microdermabrasion Scrub - extra exfoliation w/o irriation, rinses off well.

5) Tried a series of professional microdermabrasion facials - got good results.

6) Desert Essence Blemish Stick is my favorite spot treatment. (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc. - www.desertessence.com)

7) I like clay masks too. Beauty w/o Cruelty = a good bargain (natural food stores, Whole Foods, or online - http://www.beautywithoutcruelty.com/new.php) Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask has clay & benzoyl peroxide. I prefer to use it as a mask.

Still searching for the ideal daily sunscreen. I like Dr. Patricia Wexler's SPF 30 cream but it is pricey.

Liked her serum too but it is pricey.

My complexion does seem to improve when I eat more fruits & veggies. Enough sleep & 8 glasses of water a day make a big difference too.

I'm a sucker for new products so I'm a member of www.makeupalley.com. It's a free members only site w/ consumer to consumer reviews of beauty products. The reviews help keep me from falling for every sales pitch.

I wonder if those glycolic creams can help with the texture of the skin. (The glycolic peels done in spas are Not supposed to do much long-term but smooth out the skin.) They can be irritating so it's generally recommended that one uses a lower percentage first such as a 5%. Alpha Hydrox is supposed to have a decent basic glycolic cream, but please do check with your dr about it and do a patch test for a couple days to see how your system reacts to it.
