In my opinion The mazda is the better car, based on fuel economy and power to wieght ratio. the mustang has alot of hp but is so heavy it takes longer to get to a higher speed. the mazda is a great car that packs plenty of punch for an inline 4. mustang is more top end power then any thing else. The mazda is also very easy to work on under the hood, everything is there in front of you. the mustangs engin is big so theres not alot of room to work on it. and based on my experience with fords, i was always workin on it. The mazda is also a kind of car you can customize and make your own. body kits, spoiler, wheels.ect. the mustang is pretty much the way it is. you can't do much with it to make it look any different then anybody else. Last but not least mustangs catch the eyes of highway patrol more then mazdas, your prolly more likely to stay out of trouble with the mazda.

Id go for the Mustang, you also get some heritage with the nameplate. Plus, doesn't it sound nice to say your first car was a Mustang? Seriously, Mazda is actually owned by the parent Ford motor company, so there will be a few similarities in the cars, but overall id say you'll have fun with the Mustang. If fuel economy is a concern, you can get the V6 Mustang. Good luck.

Go with the mustang. I would hope that you'll take better care of it than a Mazda. Go with what you can afford really, the Mazda will use less gas, parts may be more expensive and harder to find. There are a lot more Ford dealers than Mazda dealers, plus you stand a better chance to find a part at a salvage yard, and get it cheaper than a Mazda.
You would like the Mustang better anyway because it is cooler and you'd look better in it. Go for it.

It depends if you want a small car with no power, then get the Mazda, if you want a powerfull car with room get the Mustang.

mustang because it drives nicely and is very popular and sporty also doesn't eat up a lot of gas

get the one you like the most or get one that will stay good for a long time.
