Yes we can look at the geologic record and see evidence of pole shifts. Such reversals in the Earth's magnetic field, are roughly speaking, as common as ice ages. That is, they're terrifically infrequent by human standards, but in geologic terms they happen all the time. There have been hundreds of pole shifts in the last 30 million years.

It is interesting that we live in an age where the poles seem to be close to shifting or are actually in the process. It is a process that takes hundreds of years so there isn't likely to be anything real noticeable in our life times, certainly not 2012. Pole shifts have been studied in the basaltic oceanic crust as it spreads from Iceland. These studies show that there is a period on the order of a hundred years without a significant magnetic pole. Apparently, there are multiple poles that tend to cancel each other out. There is an interesting thing about climate change that seems worth looking into. The earth's manetosphere helps protect the planet from solar winds. I believe these solar winds have been implicated recently in cloud formation which may increase water vapor, the earth's primary greenhouse gas. I wonder if the pole shift might involve some warming due to increased solar winds. We don't have to worry about it for a few generations in my opinion.

Well there are some major astrological alinements that will be happening in 2012, they take years to happen, but 2012 is sort of the halfway point- or the most inlined point of the process. And December 22, that big day in 2012, is also the winter solstice, so it's the shortest/longest day of the year, depending on where you live. Outside of being a hugely galactically significant day, I don't know what else will happen.

It is the magnetic poles that reverse, not the geographic poles. They do it, on average, every 200,000 years or so. The last was 700,000 years ago so we are overdue for one. It takes a lot longer than a few years to happen and it is certainly not going to happen in 2012. The only really intersting astronomical event in 2012 will be the total eclipse of the sun over northern Australia in November.

It's going to happen but in such a small scale that nothing drastic is really going to happen like a global climate change or the tides shifting.

Yes. It's entirely real and there is undisputable evidence defending it.
It is called Geomagnetic Reversal or (deviations in earths magnetic consistency)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geomagnetic_reversal
It's real. It's a shift in the Geophysical representations of Earth's magnetic polarity. It's been charted too!

right this is the difficulty. first of all Mayans did no longer belive in Allah. their God became no longer the authentic God. they used to sacrifice infants for his or her Gods. that they had different gods. i've got heard a number of Mayan's predictions have been authentic. now on th eother hand, they belived in end of the worldwide, yet no longer because it may tootaly end. they belived that when an end comes, this is the commencing up of a clean begining. yet i think of you besides mght would desire to be attentive to this. all of us be attentive to that the Mayan's basically died. i recommend they basically DIED. what ever happend to them, it is not important if it became an earthquake, or flod, or starvation, or desise, or have been given too chilly, or have been given too warm or what ever that happed to them, they basically DIED. all of them. so it would not nececrly recommend that however if and on condition that they are predictions are suitable, this means that December 21st 2012 is going to be the tip. purely Allah knows while the tip is. the full thought of "worldwide ending" has been performed a great form of circumstances. i think of they used to assert 06/06/06 is going to end of the worldwide. even nevertheless it wasn't they stated while they conflict/start up the recent gadget which costed approximately £5 billion, which took them two decades to construct, may be the tip of the worldwide because of the possiblity that black holes could be created. purely have faith in Allah. peace.

Pole shifts happen every 10000 years or so, I think, so we are apparently due.
The North pole is something like 25 miles removed from where it was 20 years ago.
