when it is in sleep mode it goes off. i am waiting for my daughter to come on msn but ican't see it as the screen goes to sleep.

First, I would free up your RAM (memory) as best you can so you can dedicate all resources to accessing your target. This would mean closing all other open programs - except antivirus. I would also set wallpaper and screensaver to blank or none. (They run constantly in the background and use memory).

Then, as others have suggested, I would check the settings in Power Options:

click Start
cl Settings
cl Control Panel
cl Power Options

Carefully review your options.

Start>Control Panel
Switch to Classic View if necessary
Power Options
Change Turn off Monitor setting

Right click on your desktop, select properties. Click the Screen Saver Tab. Click the Power Button. There you can change it to never turn off the monitor.
