both my nuckles are purple and swollen.i dont know if there broke or just badly bruised it hurts to piont them or make a tight closed fist.what to do with my hand? .if they are broken what to do with out going to hospital.? do i just ace it and put ice.

when i push my finghers straight fin ger close to pinky is pushed down.that nuckle rrealy hurts the most.

It is not that easy to tell whether a bone is broken or not, especially when it comes to knuckles. And not knowing what you did to injure your hand, makes it even more difficult.
If your hand was just badly bruised, then an ice pack and a couple of pain killers would help - but nobody can be certain without an Xray, I would strongly advise that you head for the nearest ER.
In general, signs and symptoms of a break are:
The victim can hear or feel the bone break
Tenderness or pain
Inability to move that part of the body
Swelling followed by bruising
Deformity
A grating noise can sometimes be heard
Bleeding, if the skin has been pierced by the bone.
A loss of sensation below the injury sight (which could indicate nerve damage)
Look after yourself and be safe

Sounds badly bruised to me from what you are writing - and from the fact that you are hanging around here on Yahoo! Answers typing and waiting for an internet opinion.
You can only really tell if it there is OBVIOUS deformity - or a grating sound or sensation when you move the ends of a broken bone - but with this sort of stuff there is usually so much pain that you go to the doctor already.
X-ray is a much better way to tell if it is broken or not.
Certainly, Ice your hand and elevate it.

You need to see a doctor right away. None of us can tell you whether it's broken, but it sure could be. That's why they invented the xray machine.
And there is no home treatment for broken bones.

Either way if its purple you need to see the doctor. You cant risk our hand growing back weird if it is actually broken.

PURPLE AND SWOLLEN!! are u nuts!! u need to go see a doctor at least get an x-ray! i had an accident with my hand once it too was purple and swollen and i too tried to avoid going to the doc it ended up getting worst and i couldn't use my hand for a month. so hon please go and get it checked out!!!

a tumor to a part of a body would get it swollen and increased blood wll flow through that area(red color)...............u can compare ur wrists with each other and make out the swelling and reddish color..............it needs to be plastered if its serious........u need an xray
