The lump is in my left breast and it moves. I went to the doctor today and he told me I have a breast infection. I can't figure out how that is possible without breastfeeding or at least recently giving birth. He put me on antibiotics for 5 days, but i am not feeling comfortable with his diagnosis.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you
The lump also moves around freely, and my breast is swollen.

I am 27 years old, and have never had a baby. There is a chance however that I could be pregnant, could this play any part in it?

Yes...absolutely. Your doctor is correct. Give the antibiotic a chance to work. I had an infection in mine last year. It cleared up with antibiotics in about a week. And I have never had a baby.

I have also had breast cancer. Breast cancer doesn't hurt and your breast wouldn't be swollen. Just relax.

It can happen but it is rare. Since the lump moves freely , it doesn't sound too much like breast cancer. Do you also have a fever or headache. These are common symptoms of breast infections in addition to the swelling and redness you described. Some doctors do insist on a mammogram or biopsy when a non-lactating woman presents symptoms of a breast infection. I don't mean to frighten you - but if it would make you feel better, you should ask that this be done. There is a rare form of breast cancer that does mimic symptoms of a breast infection. Better to be safe than sorry! ( Don't these things always seem to happen on a weekend? It really sucks.) Good luck - I am sure it will turn out to be nothing.

I had my last baby 7 yrs ago. I have had 2 breast infections since then. 1 with blood..Scary! I have had 2 MRIs and 3 Ultrasounds and many mammos. All infections. MOST of the time breast lumps do not hurt, but always get a second opinion. Also, research Inflammatory breast cancer.

I would definately get a second opinion. It could very well be the begining of breast cancer. What you have sounds much more like that. I don't mean to scare you, but I'm just being honest. If if kind of feels like a frozen pea that is stuck in there, you need to run to the doctor and have a second opinion as soon as you can. Your health is at risk, here!

You can rarely get an impacted milk gland. It does happen from time to time, and it doesn't always have a cause. If it happens a second time, I would recommend getting screened for other breast ailments.

And if you're not comfortable with a doctor's diagnosis, you're always free to get a second opinion...it is in fact encouraged if you don't like the outcome of your first appointment.

If you don't feel satisfied with your doctors diagnosis, you should get a second opinion. That is nothing to mess around with. I've had that before and had mammograms twice for it, it was just a small benign cyst both times. But a 2nd opinion can never hurt especially in that area. Best wishes to you.

Sometimes the milk ducts get infected. However, if you are not satisfied with your doctor's response, get a second opinion. It could possibly be a cyst. Cysts are quite common. Doctors usually recommend a a mammogram and a sonogram to determine what's going on. It's the only way to be certain.

I have had breast cancer twice and both times the lumps were not painful and certainly didnt move so this is a good sign for you but i would insist on being referred to a one stop breast clinic for piece of mind good luck

Sounds like it might be a cyst that got infected, I get them a lot and it is nothing to worry about. But, if you are not comfortable with his diagnosis, get a second opinion.

well if it would make you more comfy you should get a second opinion! at least give the anti biotics a chance...you wanna get better. in my opinion, you don't have to have any pregnancy to have a breast infection. but go for the 2nd opinion so that you will feel better!
