Why do we have to make fun of people who speak different or is a different color or his/her religion is different, etc. I'm not saying that's an excuse to kill anyone, but may be with the bad actions we made against people, more ahead if they are immmigrants or immigrants descentdants, as we all are in the U.S., Afro-Americans etc, may be is a trigger for a person to be killer in the future. Why we can't respect the others? Accept every body, What if he/she is black, white, from a different nationality, etc? Every body got the right to look for a better future, in here or any where else, we are no body to push or to make fun about any one. May be is time to teach our children to respect every body to grow up a better generation in the future and with a cleaner mind to accept the others. Don't you see that these actions still inside of our minds and may be one of ten will explode and do something as had happened in V.T? May be we can make the difference in a nearby future.

peter d if you are one of the many not intelligent people who want to bother others don't taking which point they may reach in the future, you shouldn't make any comment, except to make an intelligent one.

Nancy B I agree with you some how, that's the reason we, parents, most interact a lot more with our children and to stand ahead to make the "entertaiment" companies to realize what's good and what's not, perhaps parental watching should be use to see what our children are bombing with and to decied what's good and what's not good, perhaps if we'll, all parents do that, be racing up a better generation who may apply the same leasons to their children to avoid these things to happen in a near future.

im gonna keep this short... hahahahaha.....
hmmm.
Why do we have to make fun of people who speak different or is a different color or his/her religion is different?
~ why? because its human nature. we dont HAVE to, but we do it anyway. most of us, not all. (its not fair to generalize everyone) think of it this way. a seed. implanted in our brains. shot out roots, grew and grew and grew, and over the years it was supported by a stick, so it doesnt flop or anything.... same thing here. we've been given this idea that no other race is better than ours. we must put down every other being that is of different race, we are superior, they are inferior, without our resources they're nothing. they dont have a life. and over the years, we are made to strongly believe in this, and truely go by it. and then its not only until it happens to us, that we stop. we take a step outside the scene and have a good looong stare at it. then we decide that by doing that, well, its of no benefit. ~ now dont get me wrong, javy, not everyone's like that. only some of us are. others grow up to love one another and respect the fact that others are different in the same way. just becoz their eyes are slanted like a chinese person, or becoz their nose is flatter like a sudanese, or their lips are plumper like indonesians, it doesnt mean we dont like them and have the right to 'make fun of them' ... and you're right, its no excuse to kill anyone, but it very well may be a trigger, some thing that will 'turn on' a psychological thing that may lead him/her to be a killer....
Why we can't respect the others? Accept every body, What if he/she is black, white, from a different nationality, etc? ~ why? i wonder why... it comes down to who we are, i guess. i've realised that those who get put down are those who accept others widely.* and those who put down others are those who are homogenous.
*then there are two paths for those who are put down. it depends on the mentality, i guess. they either react the positive way or whether they react the negitive way, like that korean guy did. ~ then again it also comes down to how ppl around him/her treat their matter. i strongly believe, and many ppl mite disagree, that the way that korean guy was treated was wrong. seperating him from the class only added more anger and frustration that dwelled within him....
hmm, as for teaching our children to respect everybody... well, that goes back to the 'seed' that i was telling you about. we can only teach them wat we think is right. we can only teach them from our experiences, but its important to note that after they grow out of being told wats right/the best for them, after they develop their own ideas, we can only hope that their past / wat we taught them in their past, will affect the way they'll think later in life. for all we know, a person from a different racial group mite really offended them, and so their way of tinking might change. teaching ALL the kids to respect one another is like trying to bring peace to iraq. hard, very hard, almost impossible....
maybe, maybe, maybe...
maybe the best tihng we shud do is sit back, hope for the best and prepare their lessons as we wait for our children to come.....

I don't believe that "we" pushed any mass murder to the point of going on a rampage. Everybody perceives reality differently. The fact that this young man was from Korean descent tells a lot about his upbringing (or) we can assume that he was raised in a typical Korean environment. This guy was very angry at the world as a whole. It didn't matter who you were or how you knew him, he calculated everybody the same way because of the way he "perceived his own reality". It's only human to have a question of quilt as to why something happened after the fact, but the reality of it is that people did reach out to this guy but because of the fact that he only saw things from a certain perspective, he was not capable of changing.

Not really, no.
Adults are responsible for their own actions. Sure, there's the whole nature/nurture thing, but this kid was mentally deranged. He was a mean-spirited, hateful and psychotic person. He's not some dim-witted "Look at the bunny rabbit George" kind of guy. He deserves no one's sympathy.
There is no evidence that he was picked on. He was paranoid and delusional. I was picked on. So was my sister, my friends and my parents. In fact, I don't know anyone who hasn't been picked on at some point in his life. This adversity is what makes us stronger and what builds character. This kid was damaged goods. He was all wrong all around.
Edit/Addition: You call my answer unintelligent? I am addressing the question you are asking in an intelligent manner. You should take exception to my disagreement with you, not the level of intelligence in my response.
Meanwhile, you are free to take some responsibility for everything that happens in the world, the VT murders included, but don't imply that anyone other than Cho is culpable for his own actions.

I think we bear the responsibility to a point. We have abdicated our parental responsibilities in teaching our children to accept people who are different, whether it be race, religion, hair color, weight, height, nationality whatever it is that sets them apart. We have not spent the time with them to see how they are maturing and interacting with their peers. Our schools are breeding grounds for bullies, drug dealers, racists, and illiterate people who cannot read or write. The entertainment industry has become a cesspool teaching them that being vulgar, and having no values produces great wealth and fame. Tolerance begins at home as does intolerance.
