Considering how poor the US is getting (drive the US and take a look at how poor it really is), the massive crime, destructive events, etc. isn't it interesting how fast the US is falling...now? In fact...America as a great nation ended 30 years ago. One cannot consider the uneducated, weak, and poor masses of today the legacy of a "great" nation.

Need I remind that the US has NO national healthcare? Individual debt is $18 000 ( Do you OWN that car, home, etc.? Individual debt in Europe is around $1200). The national debt is around $8 TRILLION..meaning the US has NEGATIVE money. The trade debt is OVER 800 BILLION. Education is ranked the lowest in the west. Rape and murder in the US is only matched by second and third world nations. Democracy? Freedom? How much does it cost to become president?
Delusion is good...and rampant in the US....ha.

First, to actually answer your question, No.
We are just unintelligent, uninterested, and unmotivated. And, when a population becomes this complacent, its easier for the megolomaniacs to slide into power. No one is around to contest them, challenge them, or to provide an alternative choice.
Sitting right in the middle of it all, this is the reasons I see for this apathy and lack of interest. Somewhere along the way, we forgot to appreciate all the hard work it takes to build and maintain the great society we once had. In our nation's past, men lived and died for principles. The nation acted with integrity and as a single unified front, even when our leaders were literally fighting in the halls of congress. This nation was something worth fighting for, and everyone did their part.
Somewhere along the way, that got taken for granted.... Generations were born here, didn't have to struggle to found a country, or struggle against foriegn invaders, or even struggle with nature herself for food and shelter. It was all just handed to em.. the spoils of great work done by our forefathers. But, by just handing it to us, we lost track of how precious it is. And, we just keep on taking it for granted, and in return, the politicians and business-owners keep taking us for granted. Its not because they hate america, or they hate our society.. its because we let them, and with no one to stop them from taking advantage of us, why stop at all???
Whatever happened to the good ole days of 1 in 4 presidents being assassinated?? Now, there is social responsibility. What happened to being drafted, used to be an honor? What happened to giving up your silk for parachutes, or gas rationing, or any number of sacrifices that this nation used to take such pride in?
Today, we are a nation of fat ignorant sheep who don't even know how to take care of ourselves. We can't sacrifice a damn thing, because we don't know any other way of sustaining ourselves. And, we have only ourselves to blame. We bought the dream, and have foresaken the reality.
How many people in the US can start a fire from common items in their environment? How many can grow food to sustain themselves? How many can make clothing, hides, shelters? All the skills that man needs to survive are non-existant in America. We are a helpless, futile society enslaved to those who have wealth.
And, the only way back is to struggle again. Until a generation or two has to struggle to achieve the american dream, we won't remember waht that dream was.

Crime is down from the 70's which was the worst decade for crime. The poor the poverty rate has decreased dramatically from the 70's as well. The US is definitely a lot better than it was 100, 50, and yes even 30 years ago. You can meausre all this stuff by looking at facts, not coming to stupid societal conclusions based on your own dumb opinion. Another friggin moronic question with no basis for argument on yahoo answers

Try being a little more optimistic. It sounds like you've fallen for a lot of the scare tactics out there. Things are not nearly as bad as people are saying they are; they'll go out and find a certain instance of a situation, then say that it proves their point by implying that it happens everywhere. You don't hear the actual facts, though, just generalizations and woebegotten moaning. This country is not that bad. You just have to find the truth of the situation, and analyze it for yourself.

Are you running for president of the losers club, or what ? Did you lose your job again, or did your goldfish die ? There's no way you will ever get invited to the optimist's club, with your interpretation of a bump in the road.
I believe a study would reveal there are more educated Americans today, then ever, in history . I believe you need to visit more than just trailer parks if you want a real feel of what the real economy of the US is all about.
Most of all, you need to get your head out of your butt, and start thinking more positive, Mr. Doom and Gloom !

I think America is blessed in that we have a democratic government and can hold our leaders accountable for their decisions and their impact.
More people need to be politically educated and vote to make sure we are electing people who really will look out for the best interests of all people, not just the wealthy or corporations.
America is greater than any other nation I know of.

No, the liberals have done a number on us, but God will have the last laugh and He will continue to bless America . As long as there are are Christians living in and praying for America we will be blessed. The economy is doing fine, we haven't been taken over by our enemies and we are trying to help less fortunate countries.

Do you really believe the crap you read without actually looking for answers yourself?

I do not know where you have been but I see people prospering all over this country. There have always been uneducated, weak, and poor people, Its just today they have a voice yelling about how much we owe them and we are dumb enough to listen and respond to their demands.

lol... what a crock.
the economy is soaring. crime and environmental disasters are just part of life.
the only slides the U.S. experienced were under Carter and Clinton... otherwise we're doing just fine.
only losers, who are too lazy to succeed, think America is cursed.
