Remember Dorothy? "There's no place like home." Mother nature's everywhere from the remotest tundras to the densest concrete jungles. She's in those clouds in the sky outside your window, that spider web in the corner or that fly buzzing around your keyboard. You just need to look for her, my friend.

We just come back from the Galapagos Islands & Ecuador - wow !!

If you want to see nature at it's best that's the place you should go & sooner rather than later, especially while the park is being tightly monitored and the rules are strict. You must be accompanied by a naturalist guide to land anywhere within the park & you are restricted on where you go & when. This is to protect the natural habitat of the islands and the fish in the seas surrounding this wonderful area.

We lived on a catamaran for 7 days with 6 others. We were up at 5:30 every day to hike or kayak by 6:00 (when the park opens) & alternated that with snorkling throughout each & every day. Each day was different, each island is different so each experience is different. I didn't want to leave. Check out "explorerscorner.com" - the company we went with. They are the only company that kayaks from their boat & everything was perfect (warmer water would have been nice but hey - that's the Pacific Ocean). Their tours run from December - May which is the best time to go. The mainland is also very beautiful and a vastly different experience. We toured the mountain regions for 3 days after the Galapagos & loved it as well. Would have liked to have had the time to do the "jungle" areas as well but another reason to go back.

I also agreed with another participant regarding Costa Rica. It too is very beautiful & I've heard that the Panama is also very rich with nature in all it's glory (another region where Explorers' Corner has a tour that we are looking into).

Just remember - the smaller the group you travel with the better experience you will have. Imagine trying to "commune with nature" surrounded by a crowd of people. Anyway, no matter where you choose to go - enjoy !!
