You're not the only one and this was after he did all of that practicing last week. I guess he did not practice the correct lies so when the questions came from "left field" for him, he went rumbling, bumbling, stumbling right on his a*s.
It did not matter whether the firings were "justified" or not, the thing that always gets them- the cover up.
I mean the replacements that were supposed to get the jobs were not going to go in front of the Senate. They had been biding their time and waiting for March when a little known clause that had been snuck into the Patriot Act was going to go into effect. The clause was to give the President the ability to appoint a US attorney without them ever facing any oversight or scrutiny. This has since been changed and now the caca hit the fan. It seems none of these people would have passed muster. none of them had the prosecutorial experience to have the job but they were known as loyal Bushies. Then along came more and more lies. He has made a mockery of the Justice Department and has turned it into the Political Persecution Department.

I seem to recall (Yes some of us do recall things) that Bush, while running in 2000 vowed to bring integrity back to the White House.
So he obviously lied about that too. Libby, Rove, Rummy, Brownie, and now Gonzo. Amazing how much integrity there is in the White House.

He did come across as a liar yesterday. I saw a clip on the Daily Show where he said something like "I don't recall that meeting, I probably was there, but I do not recall it."

Definitely not mistaken.
All the people who think you are have nothing to back themselves up, except the White House's "renewed" support for Gonzales.
Even if he didn't orchestrate the firings, and his lack of recollection is proof that he is out of touch and ineffective.

They all lie. The ENTIRE Bush administration..Underneath it all, I would offer that they ALL can't wait to get out from under all of the lies told by EVERYONE in the administration.

I was so frustrated when he was asked whether or not the President asked him directly to fire someone. His response was, "I don't recall the President ever specifically asking me to fire someone." How did no one follow up on that!? I find the words "recall" and "specifically" very suspect in that sentence! What didn't someone just flat out ask, did he or did he not ask you to fire someone!

To Phillip M: The Senators running the hearing ARE all over it. Even the REPUBLICAN Senators are calling for him to resign or be fired.
