in writing exactly what she wants me to do as far as remodeling goes in the house. I'll do whatever she wants, but I want a list. That's not too much to ask, right?

For a second I thought you were talking about doing anything you want in the bedroom, my answer for that was going to be funny.

But no, you are not asking for to much. If your wife want something she should give you a list. Who is to say that you will remember everything she has requested. I know that when you forget something she will let you have it. Saying something like "Hello, you did not fix the table" or something sarcasm like "Thanks for painting the den". Writing it down just make your job easier, and keep the wife happy.

As a wife that went through a remodel with my husband I wish we had sat down prior to starting and put everything in writing. I can't tell you how many times I would come home and he had chosen to do something that we had not even discussed. My advice is to one write everything down--with DETAILS! and to prioritize them. Does she want to paint the trim before you install it or after you've put it in, what color of grout do you want for the tile. I can't tell you how many fights we had because we just assumed we knew what the other wanted!

I don't agree. Remodeling a house is just that. It's not an emotional thing. I'm sorry to say that you sound selfish. "I'll do this for you, but you have to do this for me"...kind of like "well, what's in it for me"? I don't think that's right, if my current significant other was like that with me, we wouldn't be together.

Probably not, but why a list? So she can't say you didn't do something, and you can point to the list and say it isn't on here. Can she add to it as she goes? LOL best of luck on that issue

You asked for way too much...

You should have provided her with some paper and a pencil too.
