Nope, the devil owns it once you get a few feet down. The proof is that people break gas lines, telephone lines, water mains, and strike oil once they go too deep.

they have rights to that land....Im thinking to say all the way to the center of the earth is a little extreme

good question! probably not. The government is so still on people flying private airplanes in the sky, I am sure they could think of a law that restricts the land to the core of the earth!

Rarely , for a long time , many sales now exclude mineral & oil rights .
Subsequent to that , air rights are often presold .
You get almost basement depth in lots of places and enough air / roof space to put up a TV satelite dish !

This, my friend, is a damned good question, one that requires deep thought and probably lots of investigation. Why, did someone tell you that you can't dig on your land? If so, I would tell them to prove it while you keep on digging!
