It's the German propensity for self-criticism that causes German stuff to be unusually thoroughly baked, in my opinion. They simply agonize over things with such intensity that you can expect a very mature outcome, every time. Granted, lots of tears on it, but hey - isn't it nice to know your car will start in the morning even when it's old?
