I have some females who are just more transparent.. and you can see the eyes sooner... I think, as long as you are really careful and dont chase her around, you could probbaly net her and put her into a breeder net.. I would suggest one of these instead of the plkastic clear breeding traps as the babies get caught in the slits in the sides. A good way to catch your girl with minimal stress is to put your net in the water... then feed them, they come to the top and you simply slide the net under her... its a lot less stressful. I have bought REALLY pregnant fish at the pet store... within days they have had babies... this is a bigger move than into a breeder net... and they do fine, you just have to be gentle :) Good luck!!

Pretty soon if you can see the eyes, but its kinda hard to tell when it will happen, the best thing you can do is get a Net Breeder. It fits right inside your tank and you can put the mother in there until she has her babies and then remove her immediately, because she will most likely eat them. If she just has them in the open tank they will for sure all get eaten! With the Fry's safely in the net breeder they are still in the tank but will not be a snack for other fish and they will have a chance to grow! Be patient though, Fry's grow really slow, so wait till they are a decent size before you release them into the tank community. Good Luck

Well if you can see the eyes it's too late to move her if that's what you are thinking. The fry should be born any day now,but if you try to move or net the female you could delay the birth or actually kill all concerned. Female livebearers should not be moved or otherwise stressed within two weeks of delivery.

I have this same thing going on.

Depending on the type of fish that you have... the standard is anywhere for 4-8 weeks. I feel like my fish has been pregnant for months!!!
