I am refinancing my home through a real estate agent.

Some states require mortgage brokers to have real estate licenses too, where as some states won't let Realtors be mortgage brokers. It sounds like you are working with a Realtor who is a mortgage broker on the side. A Realtor is not commissioned in a refinance, but if he is acting as a mortgage broker he is, and is probably making between 1.5-4% of the loan amount.

Why are you using a real estate agent? You can deal directly with a mortgage broker.

that is enormously top for that little of a mortgage. Are there very distinctive situations that might justify this rate? in different phrases, is it an excessively rough mortgage? take your app and credit score report back to one other skilled Loan Officer and spot what they arise with.

You are the ONLY person I've ever heard of ,
to bring in a totally unnecessary 3rd party to do a refinance .
Normal people just use the lenders . . .
Yours will make whatever they were able to sucker you into per whatever contract / paper you signed with them . . .
And how much does your paperwork say ?
