You hear all these cultural references in books, movies, on TV about "Googling" a person. I realize that with those of a famouse status, you can just type in their name, but those like me who have nothing to be known for can't be found in that manner. How can I find a regular person on the Internet? Is there a certain way needed to word what I type in the search engine?

Simply type the name into "google" and hit search... http://www.google.com

Use quotation marks to narrow your results.

Yeah, in lots of books they reference "googling" a person and all the stuff they found about that person. I googled myself and found nothing, so I know I'm not important! Google is probably the best search engine ever, but it still can't find something that was never entered into a website site, somewhere. So you can google me, and I can google you and we'll neither one find anything!

You can use USSearch.com and other similar "people finder" services. USSearch can do a very simple search and give you quite a bit of good information for just under $10. Sometimes that's more than worth it.

Sometimes a 'common' person will be listed on Google, because their name shows up in an obituary (listed as a relative or survivor). Sometimes 'common' people show up in church newsletters, or organizational newsletters that are posted on websites.

My name comes up on page 1 of a Google search, and so does my image (on Google images). I guess that makes me famous?

You type in there First and Last name and hit search.

you may also be able to see pictures of them, if you type in their first and last name in google images.

I wondered too what it meant, cause even Oprah was saying that. I tried it, even with the quotation marks, and never really got anything earth shattering on anyone.

If they won't show up in google, you can try switchboard.com but you would need to know what state they are in. Also, you could try sites like classmates.com and reunion.com, but they charge a fee to be able to contact someone.
