I have an extremely bright four year old son who loves wrestling. Well he loves sports in general, but especially wrestling. I have banned him from watching though, because I feel it's to violent. Now he's moping around the house and his dad feels that I should allow him to watch as long as he doesn't imitate the show. What do you think?

I really do appreciate everyone's opinions on this issue. I do not really watch the show, so I wanted to know from a viewers perspective. I will make a point of watching, though. Thanks!

Well, I started watching wrestling when I was around 5 and I am a very intelligent, hard working man. I still love wrestling, but I know it's fake and knew it was fake when I was younger because as soon as I got interested in it, my mother and her boyfriend, who was a wrestling fan told me so. Wrestling for some reason gives kids a hero to cheer for... they admire wrestlers and even are amazed by some of the agility and moves that the wrestlers do. Let him watch it, but my advice is to keep him as a Smackdown kid, being that RAW is more racy, edgy and on cable. And start to ask him questions about the wrestling. Let him know that you care about the things he likes. He's only four years old and being a parent, you have to show him concern for his interests without coming off as a sheltering parent. And I'm not a parent.

I have been watching it since birth practically,I have 4 older brothers so I never really had a choice but to like it,and I do I honestly love it!I have my own children now,and I wonder whether or not to let them watch myself, not so much due to the wrestling, but the story lines and language!Well I choose to just not let them see it,they were in bed at that hour, but one night my 4 year old daughter was sick on the couch and I was watching, and she watched and loved it,it's all she talked about for days, then her 5 year old brother wanted to see what he was missing!Anyway they both love it,never imitate what they see,and as far as the story lines and language they really don't pay much mind to that,it's more about the wrestling for them!We are taking them to their first live event in June,it's a Raw so they will get to see everyone, they both choose that over the Ringling Brothers Circus!!All in all I think it's more of a personal decision.......

well if you say extremely bright, im not going to contradict your opinion, no matter how old he is, but i started watching wrestling at 8 & i am extremely bright & knew not to imitate the moves that they do. im sure that he watches tv, if you see him imitating stuff on tv (thats not wrestling) then you shouldnt let him watch it, because imitating whats on wrestling can result from serious injury to death (not a parent as well, age 16)

U should just tell him the good from the bad of the show. & yes, i agree. that's a good rule. it'll work. but, since 've been a wrestling fan, since, like 4 ever, don't take the little guy's fav show away pleaz. Try watching it with him, really watching it. U'll get caught up in it 2.

Try taking him to a high school wrestling tournament. The real wrestling. As long as your son realizes that wrestling on TV is not real. Also make his Dad take him outside to play.

I agree with dad. Kids need an outlet for energy. Even if he imitates the show has long as he doesn't hit other people.

Its all about you and your husband setting boundaries for him. I have a 7 year old and a 15 year old who both watch from time to time, you just need to be clear what is acceptable behavior and what isn't.

I am not a parent but you should let him because it is just a TV shows and if he doesn't imitate the dangerous moves it is absolutely okay. Good luck!

Dont deny him the pleasure. It isnt that bad... since late 90's the wwe have toned it down extremely and it is family entertainment and there is no longer as much extreme violence just good pure wrestling with storylines!!!
