I need a guru? I debate that. I also debate that I don't need one. Although there are only a very few things we actually NEED. A car? No. Phone? No. Material items, even clothes, are unnecessary. We need food, air, water, rest, and, arguably, companionship.

People don't need gurus. People search for direction, which for many is found by means of a guru or religious groups.
If you are searching for direction, and can't find it by any other means in this "modern world" perhaps you may want to search for a guru.

A Guru as a spiritual teacher could be of value, but you need to answer for yourself whether you believe that is necessary. I have always needed a direct and interactive communication with God. I have been very reluctant to accept anyone else's interpretations of truth. In the end I have found that only God can teach me the nature of God. I believe that is the direction that Jesus, John and Paul have provided to us in John 14 and in 1 Corinthians 2:10-16. I accept just as Paul says that the goal is for each of us to always "have the Mind of Christ"

Yes, yes and yes!
Guru means literally "a teacher". Each person on the planet is a guru in my view. We all have something to teach one another. The issue is when one doesn't want to learn, of believes that they have enough knowledge.
