On the yahoo homepage I read the story about the voicemail that Alec Baldwin left for his 12-year old daughter, and I listened to the message. In it he calls his daughter stupid, a pig, ignorant, etc, etc. personally I think he's the pig who deserves to be charged with child abuse. He has totally lost all respect from me. What do you think of this?

Do you have a teen daughter?

Some of them are BAD!!! Take everything for granted and you owe them everything while they destroy you inside and out. I can see the child of a star and all that money being like that.

YES! YES! YES! I am glad someone else has brought this up. Verbal ABUSE is still ABUSE. For those people that think this is a "private family matter," you are kidding yourselves. That thinking is why there are SO MANY children abused around the world. My mother was RAPED by her father from the time she was 8 years old until she was 14 years old. She finally had the courage to turn him in to police. You know what? He was released after a few days because it was a "private family matter." That is BS. The big picture here is not that the tape was released. The big picture is that he VERBALLY ABUSED HIS 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. It may have been a negligent thing to release the tape, BUT HE STILL VERBALLY ABUSED HIS 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. Why are people having such a hard time seeing this?

I think presleygirl might be wrong on one thing- It is a form of Child abuse WHICH IS ALL OUR BUSINESS!
Their business is right but when you become a celebrity you have no privacy. It comes with the job, so they would be under the microscope more than the usual person!
Now saying all of this Alec Baldwin should therefore know better than anyone, that this would be used against him. (AFTER ALL WHOM BROUGHT THIS ANSWERING MESSAGE TO OUR EARS & EYE"S??).
In my best opinion on this mater is Alec Baldwin, thinks he is untouchable and maybe so, but more famous people better them him have been knocked down a couple pegs.
And so should he!
It is a form of abuse and a form of child abuse to.
Called," Verbal abuse causing low self esteem and can cause suicidal thoughts!

I have posted a similiar question on YA. I personally have never liked Alec Baldwin, even way back when he was a regular on "Knots Landing". But I think that his latest outburst was definitely evidence of "Verbal Abuse". I read an article once where he had punched Kim Basinger in the eye, so it wouldn't surprise me one little bit if he physically abused his beautiful young daughter.

.If Alec Baldwin was an ordinary Joe, Children's Services would have been on his doorstep asap. Liberals would be demanding that he enroll in parenting classes and sensitivity training. God forbid if Baldwin were a conservative, Republican, or Christian; he would be branded as a hypocrite.

But of course, to those of his ilk, Baldwin's left wing politics give him a pass from any personal responsibility for his actions. As long as you hate Bush and despise almost everything the United States does, who cares about your personal transgressions?

I listened to the voicemail message this morning & I was shocked as to why & howcome he went on a rant & berated his daughter for missing a phonecall from him. The language he used on her was pathetic & calling her a stupid, ignorant pig was uncalled for & he ought to be ashamed of himself doing such a cruel thing on his child - his daughter! I wouldn't call him a pig, I would call him an arrogant a** for what he did!
I am so appalled for what he did that today I lost all my respect for the man & I don't know if he'll ever get it back from me, from you, or the whole public! This was degrading & uncalled for on his part & I think he's a lousy father to his child to begin with. This man needs counseling & needs to take anger management & parenting classes to help himself. If he ever read this, I hope he has a lot of guilt for what he did. Shame on him!

Certainly it is verbal abuse, regardless. But seems like he was also lead to the point frustration to actually burst out like that. Knowing that in too many nasty divorce cases, the spite, hateful attitudes and trickery from any of the sides is commonplace in our society, I would definitely have to hear both sides of the story as a juror or a judge to get a full picture of what is going on there and be able to pass a more informed judgement.
But yes, verbal abuse IS child abuse. He will have to make front to that fact, accept his blame and get help to stop that type of behavior forever. They are father daughter and like many frather daughter relationships they need help. Maybe this incident will be the catalyst for it to happen. As for Kim B, coming from her I can only see this action as a way to bury him and attempt to get a judge to get her "Alec" problem to go away. They are family like it or not and they will have to come to terms with their bitterness and their issues and work to correct them. The issues will not go away. For some it takes longer than for others. For a few it never happens. We can only wish them the best as a family and hope they work through it.

That is EMOTIONAL ABUSE -- she will have low self-esteem, and a bad self-image because he called her a F****** PIG!!! He's yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs because he feels disrespected when she didn't pick up his call!! How arrogant!! Maybe she was in the bathroom taking a dump... Then he throws Kim in it (like she has ANYTHING to do with his tirade!!!). He is a true CONTROL FREAK -- he is an EMOTIONAL BULLY. If it's not HIS WAY -- THEN ITS NO WAY and he will make LIFE HELL for all those who oppose -- ask me -- I lived with this from my ex for the past 18 years!! What a coward -- these are "men" who take advantage of WOMEN/CHILDREN because they don't have THE BALLS to talk like that to MEN!!

There are much better ways to HANDLE this situation. That threatening and name calling is immature and hurtful.

BAD DAD!! BAD BAD DAD!!

It is definitely verbal child abuse, at the very least. It also comes across that he is threatening her with violence. Whether or not he meant it that way, it comes across that way.

I don't give her mother any points, though, for airing these tapes. Can you imagine how all this exposure makes the daughter feel? Every single one of her friends and teachers have now heard this vitriol aimed at her. The public exposure is simply compounding the trauma to the kid.

The one thing you can count on is nonsense-speak from the lefties. Since AB is a devout member of the loony lefty wack pack, he will get a pass from them. Now if say, Sean Hannity tees off on his 11 year old daughter they would want him locked up. Same thing happened with Bubba Clinton. Feminists love to talk about all the evil things that evil white men do, but Bubba got a pass for getting a hummer from Lewinsky.

Bottom line, is it child abuse? Who knows. What we do know is that both Baldwin and Basinger are left wing trash who probably have no business raising children.

No. I grew up in an abusive household. This was a parent who lost his cool, and I doubt we know the whole story. And until we do... innocent til proven guilty.
