The Galapogos Islands.

Charles Darwin made numerous observations along the east coast of South America with the many stops made by the HMS BEAGLE. Darwin was formulating his theory all along the trip and then verified his theory with all the splendid examples of specific and specialized adaptation Darwin found on those Galapagos Islands.

It was on the Galapagos Islands where Darwin found specific evidence to support his observations made in the South American rainforests and deserts and was able to support his theory with the dead animals from the Galapagos he brought back to England.

Charles Darwin possessed amazing powers of observation and logical deductive ability.

He was disturbed by the fact that the birds and tortoises of the Galápagos Islands off the western coast of Ecuador tended to resemble species found on the nearby continent, while inhabitants of similar neighbouring islands in the Galápagos had quite different animal populations.
