I have heard that you may have to re-bore it or do adjustments? Is this true or could I get away with not doing it.

easiest way to tell if u need to rejet: when u snap the throttle shut, and it starts poppin on decelleration, and sounds like a jake brake, u need to tweek the carbs a bit. u will definately need a rejet if u also put on a high flow air cleaner on top of the pipes. if u dont, u will run too lean, and if its lean enough, it can cause engine damage.

i put cobra slip ons on my 96 xv1100, sounded great. i didn't re jet and had a little backfire. for ultimate performance they say to re-jet. but if ya can live with the backfire......

Slip-ons? No jetting required.
If you get a little backfiring on de-acceleration, turn the pilot screws counter clockwise, 1/4 turn increments.
