Taking facts and charts from Nationmaster.com, and other sources I have heard over the radio and television, America is the #1 highest crime country in the world, beating out Germany, who is the 2nd highest crime country by almost 400%
Firearm related murders and deaths rank in at 8,256 for the U.S. compared to Germanies.384, over 20 times more murders with firearms alone, than the second country on the list.
Alot of people blame this on the society, and video games, and movies, and TV, but ALL of the other modern day countries have the EXACT same things as we do, same TV shows, same video games, same movies shown there as they are here, so that can't be the reason as to why the U.S. crime is so much different.
My question is, why is the American crime rate so outrageously higher than any other crime rate in the world? What is it about the U.S. that makes it different than the rest?

My source comes from http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_tot_cri-crime-total-crimes listing a total of 61 major countries.

Also, my statistics came from crime statistics in total by country, NOT firearm statistics alone, I linked the webpage I used above.

Diversity...at what cost?
Also, those stats are likely skewed using the approved Michael Moore method of obtaining results. For his bsumentary "Bowling for Columbine" Michael Moore included legitimate police shootings in his gun deaths total for the US, but not in the stats for the countries that he compared the US to. While I do believe that the murder rate is higher in the US than many other places, I don't think it is as alarmingly high as some would like you to believe.

First you have to get your facts straight, because not all countries measure there statics the same, as well as having different variables. Crime is not high in the US, and firearm related crime certainly is not when you consider how many people can legally have firearms in the US (almost all) vs. German (no body they are illegal - i know a guy who got taken in for questioning for bringing a paint ball gun back from the US).
In the UK guns are outlawed, so are they safer, I think not when the police walk around in stab proof vest, and every where you go they have closed circuit tv cameras.
Maybe the difference is that we don't let fear rule us in the US and punish everyone for the stupidity of a few, or that we pursue freedom above all else, and would rather take a chance of seeing a guilty man free than an innocent one jailed.

I have found statistics to be somewhat like thong underpants. What they reveal is important what they conceal is vital.
In America, you will find most firearm deaths are committed with illegal firearms in areas with the most restrictive gun laws. Such as Washington D.C. or Camden N.J. You will also find that the crime rate in general is far lower in areas that permit private citizens to obtain a license to carry a firearm.
You must also take into account the relative size of European Countries. All of Europe is not half the size of America. The last point I wish to make is the saddest of all. With international terrorism you may well see the day in the very near future when you will wish your citizenry was armed.

Seems like the guy with all the statistics is still missing the point. So the US is outgunned by a country like Columbia. What's your point? It's comparing apples and oranges. The question is how does the US compare to comparably developed countries in terms of wealth and development (Canada, western Europe, Japan). When you look at it that way, the U.S. comes in as disproportionately violent with a much higher crime rate overall.

My question is why are some sources of statistics so outrageously full of crap?
Those numbers do not match the reality. There are plenty of countries with much higher crime rates than the US. I smell BS.

American society is the most mixed in the world, ethnically, religiously, racially, and economically. All those diverse entities create a societal conflict that is not present anywhere else in the world.
And I take it you mean the western world. There are far worse places than America in the WHOLE world.

i'm Canadian yet I see the comparable television shows which you're observing. those that portray black human beings because of the fact the final public of the offender inhabitants in usa. even with the undeniable fact that, I truthfully does no longer purchase into that. I do agree that they coach lots of black human beings as drug sellers, gangsters and so on, yet additionally they coach the white criminals as being crimson neck hillbillies. the two are very undesirable representations. no longer all black human beings are thugs and not all white human beings are toothless hillbillies. As of the place somebody could pass in the event that they moved to the States....i might flow to Colorado.
