I was pretty active before I got pregnant. I didn't have a routine or go to the gym 3 times a week or anything like that but was still active, I went hiking and stuff. Since I have been pregnant, I am tired all the time. The first three months I was in and out of this hopsital due to severe morning sickness. I feel a lot better now, still pretty tired. Is it safe to start walking three times a week?? I have heard that if you did not have a excercise routine befre you gor pregnant not to start one when you are pregnant but is that true?? thanks for your comments in advance!

I would absolutely start exercising. Don't do anything really strenuous, but walking three times a week will help you body get more toned and in shape for delivery. Also, when you exercise it actually helps give you more energy.

I had pretty much the same experience. I started walking and taking a yoga class when I felt better about my 4th month. Just take it slow, don't think about about how far or how long you walk, just do it while it feels good. Also, you get a lot of extra blood volume during pregnancy so your pulse will shoot up a lot quicker and easier so take a watch and make sure it's not higher than 120-130. It's also getting to be pretty hot in some places so go at times when it's coolest and stop if you get overheated. Just mention it at your next prenatal visit, your doc might have some other guidelines, but you should be fine.

Walking is the best and safest exercise for pregnant women! Take it slow at first, keep hydrated and stop when your body is showing you the signs.

i was not very active before getting pregnant and now during pregnancy i do my best to always stay active. Of course there are days when I am so tired I don't want to, its OK to skip some days.

Good Luck and stay active :)

Walking can't hurt you. In fact, it will help you in childbirth and keep you from gaing so much weight. There's a girl at my gym who runs/bikes and lifts weights fo r1 1/2 hours for 4x a week. I think that is nits, but she is ok.

The main thing is to drink plenty of water on the walk and stop if you get tired. You're lower ab muscles may get crampy...so rest after you walk.

Have fun!!!

Walking and moderate exercise are good during pregnancy, but you should check with your doctor first to make sure it is ok for you. Some women should not do certain exercise. If you are a low risk pregnancy though it is good for you and your labor will be easier if you are in good shape.

What you said is true for the most part but walking is safe. You need to keep your heart rate under the aerobic level. Don't overdo it or get overheated.

Yes, it's fine to walk, just walk that extra bus stop each day. Don't go crazy with it though.
