At most tanning salons they will ask you questions, such as; How often are you in the sun? Do you get burnt easily? Questions like that to help determine how long you should tan for the first time. When you go back for your next appointment they will ask you if you were burnt, if so they will either keep you at the same time or drop a minute. If you ddint burn they will move you up some minutes. Also, at most tanning salons they will sell a variety of tanning productes, however you should probably get help picking out one. Some tanning lotions do not activate until you are in the tanning bed for more than a certain amount of time. Most people wear only underwear when tanning. They do clean the beds but I think the thought of someone else laying in there before them makes them want to feel clean. haha. Your sister should be able to sign for you. I hope this helps.

I am a natural red head and could never tan until I had my daughter. I guess my hormones changed or something. I used to burn or turn pink and it would turn back to white. I even tried laying in the tanning bed. Now I lay out when it's a sunny day at least 1-2 times a week sometimes more. If you could do it every day for a couple weeks you would probably have a nice tan. People even say I look better with a tan. It's not dark, but I am working on slowly getting a little darker. I started out laying out 30 minutes on each side and have done this for a couple weeks and now am up to 45. Maybe one day I'll get to an hour. If it's cloudy you lay longer. If it's really hot lay less. I use banana boat with SPF 4. That way it has just a little sun screen and I don't burn. The oil is better than the cream, I think it reflects the sun. Spray yourself with water while tanning or take occasional dips in the pool to cool off and make the sun hit you more. Try it this way it's free the tanning bed costs. lol It's been working for me. Good luck.

There are a lot of factors to take into consideration. If you have a fair complexion, you will want to start at a very short period of time (maybe 4 minutes or so). I would wear a lotion; one with a bronzer would be best. Don't go every day. Go twice in a week the first week and then every other day for the next week or so. Go up a minute or two each time; don't jump to quickly or you WILL burn and waste all the time, money , and effort you put into building your tan. You do not need to wear anything, but if you are uncomfortable being naked you should consider wearing your bikini. Make sure to use a good moisturizing lotion (one with vitamin E is good) after each tan. This will help prevent dry flakey skin or peeling.
Lastly, a stand up bed gives you a nice even tone. If you lay down, try not to lay in the same position the whole time...this will result in a white spot on your back side. ;)
Oh, and wear your goggles!

Ok, you dont' want lectures on tanning and skin cancer and prematurely aging and all of that because you're 14 and those problems are years from now and for now you just wanna look great in your bikini NOW. SO, lemme ask you this......you say you're pale. Are you someone who DOES tan? I'm light and I never could get the kind of tan I'd want. Why not do what the celebs do and use some kind of fake tan? You can get a mystic tan spray that will ROCK over anything you get from a tanning bed and won't look fake. They do this at some tanning salons and it looks great. It's faster than a tanning bed, safer ( I know, that's not a concern ), but I think it looks better. If you look at pics in magazines or whatever models and celebs all use self tanners to get that great look for bikinis or whatever. I just think if you're going on a 'great adventure" and want to have a quick summer glow that something like a mystic tan spray at a salon is your best bet. Otherwise, go to any tanning salon and they'll be happy to help you. Lotsa luck

Ok sweety so let me answer some of your questions. Ive been tanning on and off since i was 14 and im now 21 now. So time wise since i will be your first time u will prob want to start with instead of 20 mins only go for 10 the 1st time then add 2-3 mins each time you go tanning after that to get your body used to it. If you just went in for 20 the first time you would be burned horribly. Been there done it so trust me....
Now for the 1st week to week and a half from when you start tanning you should go every day what this will do is establish a decent core tan. After that first week to week 1/2 you should be able to go every 2-4 days for about another 2 weeks then once your tan is established you can go about once a week to keep you tan looking good.
What to use: at each tanning place they have different products to help you tan easier so just look around and talk to one of the people working there they should be able to tell you what product will work good with your skin type.......
Personally when i go in i do not wear anything b/c i do not want tan lines but everyone has their own preference and if you just want to make sure you look good in your swimsuit wear that in there.....
Ok last thing when i was 14 i was able to sign up for my own but if your sister comes in there with you and tell thems has legal authority over you then she should be able to sign the slip for you...
Hope this helps = )

u can tan in whatever u want (swimsuit, nude, panties)...i would recommend u go for a very short time (about 5 min) for the first session, as u are pale...if all goes well, then u can gradully move up by a min or 2 til u reach the max time allowed...it`s up to u how often u go, depending on how dark u wanna get...maybe 3 or 4x per week for a nice color...but if u are like me & totally addicted, then 7x a week!!! lol...they have sooo many lotions...regular, accelerator, amplifier, bronzer & tingle...talk to the salon staff about which of their products will be best for u & your tanning goals...i would not recommend using a tingle lotion right off, however, because they are super strong & u will probably get a nasty burn!!! swedish beauty, pro tan & fiesta sun make some good lotions...depending on the salon, they may require your parents` signature, u should call to verify what kind of permission they will need...happy tanning!!!

since you are pale you should go no longer than 6-8 minutes the first 3 times then work your way up to 15 mins,If you start to get hot then you get out ,you can buy a package for a month of tans for 20-35 dollars ,you usally don't wear anything but if you feel uncomfortable wear a swim suit,I think u need to call a few tanning salons and ask, they can tell u if you need a parent,
good luck and have fun on your trip

Hey!!!!
Okay..Your todally right..Lecturing about tanning is SOOO annoying..My x thinks he has to tell me every freakin' time I go that I am gonna get cancer..So annoying but I have been going for years. Lol...
Okay..so u asked how long should you go... If your skin is sinsitive and you don't know what it can handle yet I would start with 10 min. ... I go for 20 but I have NEVER been burnt in my LIFE because my skin isn't very fragile. But I would start with 10..then lesson the amount of time or bump it up each time you go...Then you will find how long ur skin can take....
I have a monthly pack..I go 5 times a week and I am pretty dark..But my skin dosn't burn..I recomend starting at oknly 2 or 3 times a week...(I know that sucks..cuz you want to get tan fast..but you don't want to burn...)
There will most likley be tanning lotion at the tanning salon you go to.. I recomend brown suger if they have it...But if not..You can ask them for there reference...I did!!!
I don't wear anything when I tan..And I don't recomend it..Who wants ugly tanning lines and a white fanny right? lol..
Most of the time it will be okay for your sis to take you..My older brother takes me and he's nineteen..they didn't say anything about it...
I hope I could help!! And I hope ur day starts shappening up...
OoOo..AND if you want a really fast tan..you should use Jergens natural glow daily moisturizer..Its AMAZING. I love it...
Hope ur day really gets better...
