Hi all, I have a 95 Pontiac Grand Prix with the 3.1 V6. In the morning, when I start it it will die right away, and then when I restart it it will run as long as I give it gas until it gets warm. The idle is also bouncy. I replaced the IAC and it didn't fix it. That's what the boneheads at Firestone said it was. What is left? The MAP sesnsor? Or could it be something else. Thank you.

What technica... stated is a very valid point.

Also in the mornings, your vehicle has a cold start injector that gives the engine some extra fuel in the mornings, if your cold start injectors are dirty, clogged, or not functioning you'll also get the symptoms you're describing if your problem only occurs in the morning.

You should take it to a technician and have them hook up the scan tool and watch the datastream from the vehicle as it idles. It could need a MAP sensor, but also could be any number of wiring issues within the vehicle, given the age. At this point, the computer may even need replacing. Before spending any more time or money, take it in and have it looked at, and go from there.

That is very similar to the way mine was acting just before the fuel pump went out. Granted its a truck, but GM's are notorious for having poor fuel pumps.

That will be one of the more expensive options but its very possible.
It doesn't sound like it, but it might not hurt to change your fuel filter. Its a long shot, but part of regular maintenance that may make a difference and if you DIY it shouldn't cost you but $10-12.

the throttle positon sensor will cause erractic idle. the fuel pressure regulator will cause the car to stall. check the regulator by pulling off the vacuum lines on top of the intake close to the trottle body (3or 4 vacuum lines)and see or smell if gas is in the line.if it is , the regulator s diaphram has ruptured

these cars are bad about the fuel pressure regulator leaking internally. pull the vacuum line off and if its wet have it replaced
