I had regular cycles before the pill. It's been almost a year since I stopped the pill and I'm not ovulating. I'm 24, have a 21.5 BMI, 16-19% body fat, exercise 5-6 hours a week. My period came back when I started anxiety medication, but no ovulation. What gives?? Hormones were all normal!

Would my blood tests be normal if I had PCOS? I also don't really have any visible signs, like acne or excess hair.

I haven't lost weight, but I've lost body fat. I used to be more like 21-22% body fat, and now I'm down. I've always been a big exerciser...in the past, it was all sports, but now that I'm grown, I work out at the gym.

I am about the same as you and have not regained my period since I went off the pill...I went to two doctors - first one gave me progesterone and I did not have my period, so that pretty much rules out PCOS for me...second doctor (far better) tested my estrogen levels and all other pituitary gland fuctions (I have a thyroid disorder already) and found I was not producing estrogen. My BMI is generally between 19 and 20.5..not sure what my body fat is, but I exercise between 6 and 7 hours a week. I need to go in for an MRI of my pituitary gland a cat scan on my ovaries, but I'm actually hoping its just because I exercise too much and don't eat enough fat...

So, if I were you, I would go to a doctor to get checked out, but I would also cut back on exercise and make sure you're eating enough...I plan to eat more steak and soy and cut back exercising a bit...

Oh, did you have normal periods before you began your exercise regiment? Do you diet? Have you lost weight?

Good luck!

I am going to go with PCOS. It is almost impossible to detect if you aren't looking for it, but it causes your body to stop producing progesterone. It's something that you can easily be checked for and there are many different medications that can help you begin ovulating again.

EDIT: I didn't have acne or facial hair either, but I was diagnosed with it. I was gaining a lot of weight for no apparent reason, which was the kicker for me. I went on Metformin for two weeks and had a very normal period, and got pregnant as well after having tried for 16 months.
