If you purchased the system, the details of the system should be included on the material included with your laptop purchase. If this is a work resource, you can check with the person who supplied you with the computer and they may or may not tell you about the feature. If this is a laptop you found/stole, then hopefully the device does have one of those features or any of the other features that enable tracking of a laptop. I would also hope that the hard drive is encrypted to prevent data loss.

As for disabling/removing, you should only attempt this if it is your personal equipment and do so following the directions in the media provided as part of your purchase.
