I know its only a show but don't you think some women (married or single) actually embrace the lifestyle similar to charcters on the show and take the positve things such as confidence, feeling good about oneself (Which is not wrong at all) but sometimes (not all times), livin it at the cost of morals?

I think shows like this just bring to light some of the things that go on in real life. I would hope that most people would take these shows as sheer entertainment and not a guide on how to live life.

I've never seen desperate housewives but I'm a sex and the city fanatic. I think the show definitely helps me - not sure about other women - because they depict life from four very different women to which all women at some point in their life has been (or will be) a Charlotte, Carrie, Samantha and Miranda. I associate closely to Carrie, her relationship with big was EXACTLY what I was going through with a "larger than life" boyfriend of mine and at the same time! He was very emotionally unavailable and like Carrie, I tried to make a relationship where there just couldn't be one. Anyway, that show has helped me alot, it's allowed me to cry and hash over countless situations that I've similarly found myself in. I also happen to have three good friends that meet for lunch or breakfast and talk about guys. Though we don't meet as much as they girls do on the show. Sounds weird I guess, I'm not some sicko with no life, I just love the show (and shoes).

Define "morals". Most men complain about the lack of "morals" on these shows mostly because they portray women behaving the say way that men do. Yet tv shows that show men behaving exactly the same way don't cause anyone to raise an eyebrow. What's up with that?

those issues maximum quite injury women persons, yet additionally they injury adult males. adult males loose all appreciate for women persons, or maybe flow as far as believing that this is how women persons somewhat are. Then human beings think of those are techniques they're meant to act, like all of us else is this way, they might desire to be too. It encourages superficial relationships. we choose beneficial impacts to maintain us on the excellent song. those detrimental shows basically serve to confuse human beings and degrade women persons and adult males. this is not basically shows like those, in basic terms look on the Flintstones, why are maximum of shows depicting husbands and fathers as a gaggle of unworthy idiots? what's the schedule?? and don't be fooled, there is an schedule, not something in the movies or on television is positioned there with the aid of accident, this is all concept out very heavily.

Yeah. It's a double edged sword. By the way, "Sex and the City" is my favorite show. I have everything STC. Book, the DVD Collection, etc.

I love their independence, the way they can stand up to men, and their fashion. But some girls really think it's cool to have sex with every Tom, Dick and Harry and get away with it.

I really think your upbringing defines who you are. If you are brought up properly, then any violence, sex or drug crazed movie or TV show will not influence you. So I really don't blame these shows, I blame parents and friends if they are easily influenced by the negatives in our society.

It is great that these shows are embracing the independence that women are capable of having; however, their ways of acheiving independence (such as casual sex) is not in any way a wise thing to do.

i think they are great to encourage confidence in women. It just a mirror of what goes on in todays society really, i may not agree with some of their behaviours, but everyone will have different opinions on that. But i think the main point to these shows is that they portray strong self-reliant woman.

No I don't think so. It's men who think that women are like that. But then it is because men think that's what women are like and most of us aren't like that. I don't watch either show b/c sleeping around isn't something I find entertaining.
