Alec is funny on 30 rock but I must say that the comments made to his daughter is verbal child abuse and should be dealt with harshly by NBC. Imus made an ill mannered tastless racist joke/comment but at least he did not completly berate his his 11 year old child just because she didn't pick up the phone. Alec Balwin is a sorry excuse for a human. Lets see if NBC has the guts to can this idiot

People get fired/suspended at work for things they do in thier private life all the time. Pac man jones was just suspended by the nfl for a year for just basicly being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Alec is in the public eye and fair or not what he does in his private life that gets out in the public makes an impact and he should be held responsible for his actions. He represents NBC and they have the right and the duty to repremand him for giving himself and the network a black eye.

It is really shocking but then again, we don't know the whole story. It's really hard to judge the whole situation on the basis of one rude outburst.

I thought the exact same thing. I don't care how dysfunctional he or Kim Basinger are, the treatment of his daughter on the phone was nothing short of child abuse. But my two cents is that NBC will do absolutely nothing. Alec is a money maker. He's hosted SNL a dozen times or something like that. He gets ratings. He's a "good" actor. People will argue that Imus insulted an entire race and gender and Baldwin did not. However Baldwin insulted his own flesh and blood, belittled her and demeaned her. It's been reported that Kim leaked the phone message and who knows, Kim may have been behind the daughter not answering her phone when Alec called. These parents should have their daughter taken away because all she is is a pawn so they can get back at each other. It makes me sick how celebrities, athletes, etc can break the law, get DUIs and arrested, do drugs, and all sorts of deplorable things and still be employable in Hollywood or professional sports. They are humans like everyone else but they get special treatment. Alec should be booted out of his show and forced into anger management counseling at the VERY least. But it will never happen.

Yes, I am outraged by Mr. Baldwin's message to his daughter. You just don't talk to a child like that. No wonder why she doesn't pick up her phone! I wouldn't want to go through that kind of abuse either. Who's to say this is the first time this has happened. The Imus incident was a totally different situation, however I think the ratings of 30 Rock will plummet after this.

On a side note, Alec Baldwin said he was going to leave the US if George W. Bush was elected the first time and yet he remains through his second term. I say ship him to Iraq and do us all a favor.

I just found out about that earlier this morning and was shocked to read the message he left his daughter. I cant see how someone can say that to a their own child or any child just because they did not pick up the phone and then say nasty things about the mom. Alec to me seems to have a big head and thinks that he can get away with saying things like that. Yes I know he is a celebrity and if a "normal" person would have said that then would the public find out and accuse them of child abuse? I hope so. Celebrity or not when you say stuff like that then there are consequences becasue children take things to the heart. NBC has a lot to deal with Alec.

I doubt NBC is going to reprimand Alec for what he is doing in his personal life - Imus said what he did on-air and while doing his job.

As far as what I think about it... I think BOTH Alec and Kim should not have custody of Ireland. Both are very unstable people - Alec has anger and aggression issues while Kim is a very poisonous and manipulative person. The girl needs stability and a happy life and neither of her parents care enough to give it to her - it's all about turning a little kid against the other and using her in the media.

Imus spoke "on-air". He used his job as a venue for his stupid opinion, which was wrong on several levels but the #1 reason for firing. He made the station look bad.

Alec was on personal/private time when he called his daughter. It has nothing to do with his job in any way. Yes it was VERY wrong and he should be punished, but by the state child services, not his employer.

Then again, would you want a person working for you that would talk to their own child like that? How can you trust he won't blow up at clients?

Alec Baldwin is an arrogant, narcissistic, misogynistic piece of garbage. I honestly don't give a damn how funny or talented he may be. I am so glad this phone message was made public so everyone can see what an *** this guy is. It doesn't matter what the situation is between him and and his ex-wife. The things he said to his daughter are vile!! Can you tell how much I hate this guy? NBS won't do a thing.

What Alec Baldwin said to his daughter is not the business of NBC..what Imus said is completely different..stop being an idiot.

Alec has always been known as a hothead and a feather-tempered guy.
I don't say it's right what he said to his kid (I mean, I'd deck him at the word pig if I was the mother). But, he loves his daughter dearly, we've seen that many times over. It's nobody's business anyway. She is not being abused - if she were, he'd be in court by now, his ex would make sure of that!

So he vents... so what? Better to yell a little then smack around, don't you think?

No, because Baldwin makes much more money for NBC than Imus did.

Plus, his daughter is not black.

I think not only should he be fired but should be made to take anger management sessions and a psych. evaluation. He want to blame his ex wife but instead of blaming her he only has himself to blame he did not have to say such degrading thing to a child you do not teach a child the right way to behave by yelling at them you teach by example .
