don't use draino in the toilet, if it won't plunge after sitting for this long, you will need to 'snake' it with an auger to break up the clog. snake is a slang term for a plumbing or closet auger, either can be used when you go to buy one at the hardware store. they make them for just the toilet, and another type for any type drain. the closet auger has a pipe handle and a 3' flexible wire auger that is inserted down into the drain opening in the toilet. it will come with instructions on how to use it for clearing clogs, they will explain with pictures better than i could here. this style of 'clog buster' is designed just for toilets, and to keep your hands out of the 'mess' while clearing the clog. a drain auger or plumbers snake/auger is just the wire auger without the pipe handle and they are sold in various lengths, and can be used for sink and bath drains, too. but you will want to wear rubber gloves when using these on the toilet. i hope this helps solve the problem until he moves out!!! lol, good luck.

First...DO NOT pour a caustic drain cleaner into the bowl. If it can't be unclogged, it will need to be removed and there will be "acid" water all over the place. (shop vacs don't like acid water either) Purchase or rent a closet auger. These are made to clear clogs in the toilet trap. If this doesn't work, the clog is further down the drain pipe. You would need to remove the toilet from the floor and snake out the drain line. Before going any further, try the plunger again. Push it down to the bottom of the bowl slowly and then pull up on the handle a little bit. Then slowly push it back down. Pull quickly up on the handle. This creates a vacuum and may pull the blockage back into the bowl. You really don't want the blockage pushed further down the lines.

Ah the fifteen year-old, very rough on all household areas. I have experience that the judgment of the average 15 year-old tells them anything can go down the toilet. It's like they're magical. Have him reach into the toilet hole and fish out whatever he tried to flush down there. If he can't reach it. Have him remove all the water from the tank and the bowl of the toilet, disconnect the water supply hose and unbolt it from the floor (2 screws) at it's base. At this point you will no doubt be able to tell what the problem is. You will need a new wax ring to put the toilette back on. These are at most hardware stores, just ask for one. Remove the old one with a scraper and replace with the new. The wax ring is the seal between the pipe and the toilet. You don't want a leak of solid, liquid or gas here. It's a bit of job but a 15 year old can handle it. Just be careful not to scratch the porcelain finish on the toilette.

May be a foreign object hung up in the bend. (2 kids so been through that before) Try letting it sit for a while then flush again. If it won't go down, I'd suggest purchasing a closet auger from Home Depot, they have a $10.00 one there that works well.
Another thing you can do its make sure your drainline is not stopped up. Go out to the cleanout in the yard and pull the cap off, you will need large channel locks to twist the lid off. If there is water at the top of the pipe, then your main is clogged and you'll need to call a plumber.

There may be something else clogging it. I frequently see pens or pencils caught in the "S" bend inside the toilet. That slows everything and gives you frequent clogs. Snake it, or remove, inspect and reinstall.
There may be an obstruction further down the plumbing. Same thing, snake it while the toilet is off.

let the turd soak for awhile, eventaully she will soften up and then go away, unless, of course, your drains are clogged elsewhere in the line. good luck!
PS - make the boy do all the checking, that will teach him to not save up such a big poop next time!

A toilet bowl is designed to take a full flush of water plus a bit extra, so it will not overflow. Try plunging with a floor mop. Very good for this.
