For humans, the most that have been born alive at one time was ten. Two girls and eight boys in Brazil in 1946. It's not recorded whether they lived or died... it's doubtful that they lived.

There have been a few cases of nine. One happened in March of 1999 in Malaysia. None of the babies survived longer than six hours. Another in Australia in 1971 - only one survived.

The largest number of births where all babies survived was eight (link 1 and 2). The happy mom was Nkem Chukwu of Texas in 1998. One actually died about a month later.

Most Children Born

Using only nature I think the maximum a person has had was 5 I've heard of identical quintuplets and fraternal ones without using fertility treatments. A woman gave birth to 9 children all of them alive at birth but died shortly there after. A women in the US gave birth to 8 but one of them died (at least I think one did). So seven is about the maximum that can be born and have the best chances of them all surviving, but it is still extremely dangerous and most of the ones that do live are likely going to have some serious problems later in life.

Well there theoretically isn't a defined limit, but there is only so much room in the womb. I do believe the largest group was septuplets (7) in which all of the children survived.
