Depends on where you work. my office doesn't mind half hour to hour here or there, if you make up the time during the week. I usually try to take my lunch later, etc. However, if it is anything more than two hours, we are required to use either sick time or vacation time or take it unpaid. only your boss can tell you what is acceptable.

If you have to leave your job early a lot of the time, maybe you should get a different job with different hours. You will most likely have to do this again and again in the future and you may be fired for it. Maybe you could ask a friend or neighbor to watch them for a couple of hours when you need them to and offer to pay them or take them to dinner or something.

although family is very important.... you have made a commitment to your job as well... and im sure they depend on you.. esp if you have left early the past 2 days..... i'm sure your boss is sympathetic with your issue but she has a responsibility to her superiors.... i think you should talk to your parents about the situation so it doesn't become a regular occurance... maybe you could work out something with a fellow employee that they cover for you by coming in a little early .... as long as it is ok with your boss
