Misery goes wherever the individual goes. However, there are environmental influences that can make one feel better. Human beings are social creatures and thus, where there is a good social support, they tend to be happier.

It depends what kind of problems you have. If you have debts, or suffer from depression etc. then maybe emigration won't help.
I think it helps a lot of people in terms of thinking about their children's future. When I have kids I want them to have the best education but mostly grow up in a respectful culture...depending where you live, that's not always so easy in the UK.
I am actually thinking of Japan for the best education and extremely respectful people, or Singapore. I mean at the end of the day, you still have to tidy up and do the chores but it's much nicer when the sun is shining, people say hello to you in the street and you not too scared to wonder around after 9pm.

Many times people are able to find job or business opportunities abroad that they do not have at home, so often emigration can be helpful.
Both the U.K. and the U.S. are societies that allow a great deal of freedom, both political and religious. Tis is not true in many countries. Thus, people sometimes emigrate from their country to one which offers greater freedom.
In my own case, I emigrated from the United States to Mexico because my true love lived in Mexico.
So yes, sometimes emigration provides an answer.

I think emigrating won't necessary make you happy, you can just take your unhappiness with you, you have to make yourself happy no matter where you live.
However, I am hoping to emigrate, I am unhappy living in Britain, and think that I will have a much happier life abroad.

I emigrated a long time ago. After a few months or years, it is not as exciting as it seems. It doesn't matter where you live. People still have everyday tasks to fulfil, washing, cooking, cleaning...

I got out of england, not because I wasnt happy, but because I love egypt, which is where I emigrated to.
People can think the grass is always greener but there are always problems in life, whereever you are, it is ourselves that need to change and face challenges

Unhappiness is in the person, not the place. And it, like trouble will follow them wherever they go.

Here in Bush-land, emigration has its appeals, too.
It depends on circumstances as well as personality. I know Brits here who love living in the USA, and they say they have opportunities here they wouldn't have back home.

It does if you are fleeing a criminal record.
In your case, I'd say stand your ground and fight. You can't run forever, so take a stand.
