My mom bought it at Wal-Mart had no label on it. Instructions say to keep it evenly moist and in bright light, and it came from a nursery in Carthage, MO called FGH, Inc. Picture of this plant can be seen at: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n34/aetreat/purpleplant.jpg

It looks to me like a Tradescantia Zebrina or "Wandering Jew".

Agree -- wandering jew. Easily roots in water. Cut off a section, remove any leaves that will be in contact with water to prevent rot and smell. Have fun!

It is a House Plant. You need to bring it inside for winter. :-p
Well, I have one, but, not sure of an exact name. When someone ask me what one of my flowers are, I tell them; "It a flower". It hard when there so many.
Just for trivia, I have the same exact recliner as you, color and everything, they nice! :-D
