For example, there was a Popeye cartoon where, for some reson, he was wrestling with alligators. He would flip them over and rub their bellies, and they would stop fighting. Anything that calm you like that? For me it's classical music. I can't help but be calm when I hear it.

Reading my Bible calms me instantly. I go to it whenever I am upset or unsettled in anyway. I know that if the Israelites survived in the wilderness despite their being "stiff necked people", then I can survive in this crazy world with His help. I know that Jesus covers my sin and that I do not have things half as bad as those in the New Testament...they survived and so will I. I just thrive on the promises of God and calm down immediately.

I personally use NLP anchors (I get stressed a lot, they help loads).

Try closing your eyes while lying down in a dimly-lit room. Really relax all your muscles. Then think of 'calm things' (those will be different for different people) and press your thumb and fore-finger together for roughly 10 secs.

Do it a few times, then when you need to calm, try pressing the thumb/finger together, and see if you feel different.

Whenever I'm upset, sad, or mad, I turn the TV on and find a sitcom to watch like Friends or Will & Grace. Comedy makes me laugh and cheers me up. :)
