There were many economic factors that resulted in the French Revolution:
1. A poor economic situation and an unmanageable national debt, both caused and exacerbated by the burden of a grossly inequitable system of taxation, the massive spending of Louis XVI and the many wars of the 18th century;
2. High unemployment and high bread prices causing more money to be spent on food and less in other areas of the economy;
3. Food scarcity in the months immediately before the revolution.

In addition, there were many social and political factors:
1. Resentment of royal absolutism;
2. Resentment by the ambitious professional classes towards noble privileges and dominance in public life;
3. Resentment of manorialism (seigneurialism) by peasants, wage-earners, and, to a lesser extent, the bourgeoisie;
4. Resentment of clerical privilege (anti-clericalism) and aspirations for freedom of religion;
5. Aspirations for liberty and (especially as the revolution progressed) republicanism;
6. Hatred toward the King for firing Jacques Necker and Anne Robert Jacques Turgot, Baron de Laune (among other financial advisors) who represented and fought for the people

Finally, perhaps above all, was the almost total failure of Louis XVI and his advisors to deal effectively with any of these problems.

What caused the French Revolution was that when King Louis 14 was alive he spend tax money on wars because he wanted control. The 14th also allowed people to buy knighthood and lord and ladyships making a large gap between classes. Since King Louis 15 didn't do much i'll move on to king louis 16 who tried to please his wife Marie Antionette with whatever money that was left from his great-great grandpa (the 14) but by that time the lower class was fed up with starving and plagues they fought back taking over the jail first then invading the high class homes.

The French Revolution was caused by the oppressive tax policies and treatment of the peasants and middle class by the French nobility who, along with the Catholic church, stood together in the Estates General to outvote the peasants and middle class.Each had one vote, so the peasants always lost 2-1 with the church siding with the nobles who paid them dearly for doing so.
