As we are becoming more aware of global warming I think it would really make a difference if we went back to the old days when most people would hang their clothes outside to dry our clothes instead of using the dryer. (given the fact that you have a place to do it) I know some people still do it, but very few. I really want to do my part by creating a permanent rack. The problem is I really don't know how to build one or if they are available somewhere for sale. Any ideas, information, or suggestions will be appreciated.

Just go to Walmart and buy a clothes line and some clothes pins. Hang the line between two trees or put up some posts or hang it on the fence.

I never use my dryer. The benefit of outdoor drying is the great fresh smell of the clothes and also air dried clothing and linens are more bacteria free.

Like REnate said, you could get one from Wal-mart or a similar store.

But it's not hard to build, if you want to do that: You'll need a couple of sturdy posts, a couple of strong boards, a few long screws, a post hole digger, perhaps some concrete, and some thin strong (and waterproof!) cord.

First, use your screws to attach your boards to the posts. Then dig your post holes, perhaps 18 inches deep and set your posts in them. Use the concrete to pack your posts in, and make sure they're plumb. After the concrete is cured and your posts are well set, string up your cable and pull it tight: Otherwise it will sag when you hang something heavy.

Good luck!
