human mind is powerful and the universe is INFINITE. anything can happen. what if over the evolution of man, his need for supreme guidance (and excuse) CREATED a supreme diety, and therefore anything that is an emotional issue in the believers psyche at the time becomes Gods law. wow. that is scary. thoughts?

what if we are like one of those scary little worlds from star trek. "captain, there seems to be a diety these people created with their minds. it hates everything thats different and causes death and havoc. it wants us dead." then they have to flee, amid 60s soundtrack.

p.s. i dont watch star trek, but it was a good example.

Truth in the fact that no there is no known proof that can be offered up to back up the existence of God that can satisfy every mind. But there is also no known proof that he doesn't.
Opinions based on theories that can never be proved keeps alive a debate. Do we omit this without proof? Do we assume we know the answer when we just decide to give up? How many truly has seeked answers or even know where to begin? Is it so important to ridicule those that believe because we ourselves can't find the answers? Some of us claim to have minds that continue to work growing continuously every day in knowledge but for many we lack in the wisdom by bringing ourselves so low to make assumptions for where we have no answers. With so much knowledge we have gained it seems petty to waste it by not gaining the wisdom to keep our minds open to all possibilities. Is it not?

Humanity has created many ideas about the nature and existence of God, but thinking something into actual existence is to attribute to humanity a quality that classical Christian theology identifies as belonging properly to a divine nature, not a human nature. This transposition of divine attributes to finite or material realities is one of the characteristics of modernity. Also, we have no real evidence that the material universe is infinite. Again this a problem of taking an attribute that was formally credited to God, and applying it to some other reality. And as far as the speculation that "anything is possible"-- that is nothing more than a speculative statement, and even if true, probability would determine that most things that we would want to happen, simply would not happen as we would like. Finally, centuries ago a very deep thinker named Anselm, conceived of God's nature as being "that which nothing greater can be thought"-- in other words, whatever God might be, it is beyond the capacity of a finite, human mind to fully know or comprehend. What we might know of God, would be through analogies or metaphors, or if God chose to reveal himself in some way-- and all these ways, even if they were epxressive of truth, would not fully describe or indicate what is essential to God's nature. Therefore, God's nature, if there is a God, is not something that is a result of our projections-- because whatever God is, would be ever greater than anything that we could ever conceive. Whatever hold concepts of God have on either an believers or unbelievers minds, those concepts are not and could not be God.

Oh, and one more thing-- if you know a line from Star Trek well enough to quote it-- you are watching Star Trek too much.

It's my belief that man created the notion of God, and the God that is taught to us, regardless of our religious belief, is nothing more than a fictional character in a very long and complicated book. Though I also believe that "God", as we've come to call it, does exist in a form that we, as people, couldn't possibly understand, nor define. I don't believe that what we call God has hate, nor do I believe that it has love. I believe it just has the power to be, to create and to exist by a set of laws that we're all capeable of living by, maybe not in human form, but in spiritual form. I believe that every living thing is a part of this divine greatness. That our spirits are pieces taken from it and placed in these vessels, which give us the ability to experience life in a different way, on a different plane. Not just subject to the laws of the universe, as the divine greatness is, but subject to emotion, to choice, and thought. And the most beautiful thing about it is that it gives us the ability to be different. It gives us the ability to learn and grow, not as people, or animals, or plants, but as part of that divine spirit that doesn't have the ability to feel or see or change, only to exist. There are many speculations as to what the meaning of life holds and as to who or what or if God is. It's not only impossible, but ignorant to think that there is any one or correct answer. And ignorant still to think that one answer is any more right than anyone elses, no matter how many people follow that belief. All I know for certain is that I've been given the ability to think, to understand, to accept, to love and to grow. For that alone, I am eternally greatful to whoever it was that gave that ability to me. And for me, to show that appreciation simply means to help when I'm needed, mind my own when I'm not, love unconditionally, accept all the flaws that come with human nature as well as accepting all the differences we have as people. Make as many people smile as I possible in a day. Understand, when I can. Ask when I can't. Learn what I can and teach what I've learned. I'm not going to worry about where I'll go when I die, I don't believe in heaven or hell, only in eternal existance in a spiritual form, so I believe I'll go wherever my soul is needed.
Everyone has their opinions, and they're all interesting to listen to, sometimes even eye opening and thought provoking.
I guess, in closing, it doesn't matter if man created God, or even if it exists. We can speculate all we want, but there's only one way to find out for sure, and when we do, there's no coming back to tell of the tail. So just exist, be happy and be true. Your questions will all be answered in time.

Hello. Answer is: No way Jose! God is INFINITE, holy, the Ancient of Days, and is WITHOUT beginning or end... hence Almighty and absolute! Religion is man working to reach God, but Christianity is GOD reaching out to save and redeem fallen unregenerate man who'd be eternally lost in hell without Him. The bible says the WEAKNESS of God is STRONGER than men... get it now... His weakness! God sovereignly chose to create man to have a relationship with and give expression of His Father-heart. When man fell into sin and so marred the image of God within him, He made provision to bring forth a Redeemer. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ (God) is LORD to the glory of God the Father... and NOT the other way around friend. Look unto Him.

We human beings mostly think that we have a powerful mind or something very intelligent animals or that we are the best animals or perfect animals .in our philosophy ,especially in anthropology , we learned that . But It is all fiction for me when I observe our history and actual life . We are poor minded animals whom can not accept the nature and can not overcome our problem and we are still wondering around . I can not speak of god`s existence ,i have no enough intelligence , but I am sure we are imperfect animals and in big crisis . I will ask you a question :have you ever seen an animal which try to cover up from a cold or from worm, and complain of nature and invent such protection ?No ,never happened because It goes in harmony with nature which we luck . Or have you seen an animal ,for instance ,a kingdom of lions waged a war to other kingdom of lions ? Have you seen such animals that we claim they are not intelligent made other animal there slave for benefit of his/hers ?But man wage war to other human being because of petroleum ,isn’t it ? Should we to be considered as an entity with powerful mind? No!!!We believe in such a nonsense idea century for century .when should we stop it and start to get from our poor mind and intelligence ?

Boy, God's so much easier to believe in than all that confusing stuff you are trying to explain. God created man, not the other way around. He is perfect and we are not. There is no way the human could ever have that much power within himself. God created us for His purposes not our own. God bless!!!!

In my Estimation, There is Room for Directed Evolution. But, I am Not Inclined to Believe In Someones Else's Personal God.

In my Opinion, Saying There is a God is Just as Erroneous, as Saying There isn't One.

God definitely was created in the minds of humans, but that's as far as a thought can go. Thoughts can control the minds that produced them.
An imaginary God is as powerful or as weak as you imagine him to be.

That is a great question. The most believable theroy that I've heard is the fact that a "finite" mind isn't capable of making up the idea of an infinate God. If you think about it it's very true.

Man did create God. There is no way to prove if "God" exists or not. All the gods of all the religions through out history are created by man. That is not to say that "God" actually exists but man has created all notions of god.
